Bless, they are a bit stiff and scripted at the moment aren't they!
Must be quite scary, right, there's only a few hundred thousand preschoolers watching, and their parents, off you go!

(NB, watching until builders arrive at mums and then turning telly off, honest)

You can still get your 'Hugo Monkey' fix on the presenters/songs section of the website. Ds insists that we visit it at least every other day .

chipsandtart · 26/01/2009 19:17

it took me about 2 hours of watching the new presenters to realise the women only has one hand.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 27/01/2009 11:05

Chipsandtart - I saw it yesterday and didn't notice, only just did now when they were dancing to Alphabeat - assuming it didn't fall off overnight,it must be that I am particularly unobservant

Jennybobadgie · 28/01/2009 12:32

Oh the new presenters are awful, awful, awful, I am having Chris and Pui withdrawals, although my 9 month old hasn't seemed to notice! I'm really going to miss bedtime business and hugo monkey, and Pui's rediculously bad singing, Cbeebies will never be the same again I fear (sob)

claireybrations · 28/01/2009 12:45

DD asked where the jelly monster has gone, I told her those were the new people and she said good I don't like that lady and the jelly monster Anyone would be better than them tbh

But she does also keep asking for Chris, he was the first one that she knew

MuchLessTiredNow · 28/01/2009 12:50

I miss Chris too - always had a really soft spot for him

samsonara · 28/01/2009 14:43

Yes my dd said she missed Chris and Pui, She does however like Cerrie and Alex. I liked Skye, she was sweet but those green clothes and funnyhair, won't miss those!

MollieO · 28/01/2009 22:20

The only things I liked about Cbeebies were Chris and Pui. Can't believe that the bedtime song has gone now too. My ds told me that they'd gone away for Christmas "Don't worry mummy they will be back soon". Is that old programme with Chris and the house with the face still on (sorry no idea of name)? At least he is still on the TV songs bit of the website.

Piffle · 28/01/2009 22:22

Dd pointed out, rightly that the bedtime song is now sung really nicely.

MollieO · 28/01/2009 22:31

Haven't heard the new version but there was nothing wrong with Chris's singing. Pui's was awful but she didn't do that song. I used to let ds watch the end of Cbeebies just so I could see Chris .

Baniz · 29/01/2009 12:26

Maybe the new girl should team up with Handrew?

Oh dear, I'm going to hell, aren't I?

mamadiva · 29/01/2009 12:46

ROFL Baniz, oops I spose I better join you to be damned I didn't even notice the other day until she was carrying a bowl or something and I noticed she was holding it funny took me a while to figure out why....

I am gutted to see (or not as it is) Chris go I loved him. DS liked him too hope Step inside is still on. I didn't think Chris was a bad singer Pui was awful.

Really miss Hugo Monkey's Funky Jungle Conga I loved that more than DS used to dance along and do the actions with him, that's my son not Chris I didn't dance with the TV, well not a lot anyway

MaggsS · 29/01/2009 14:40

Also huge fan of Chris and Pui (and of course Hugo monkey!!)

I'm really sorry but I can't help looking at her arm

funtimewincies · 29/01/2009 19:03

Mamadiva - get thee over to the website, Hugo Monkey is alive and well !

Oovavu · 30/01/2009 15:45

That's kind of the point, MaggsS. The more children see people different to themselves, they less likely they are to react in a negative way when they meet them in 'RL'

DivamakesKimchi · 30/01/2009 18:08

i only just realised her arm.
been watching cbeebies all week

solidgoldbullet4myvalentine · 30/01/2009 21:27

I think it's good that she only has one arm as well (sorry, not in a serves-her-right way or anything - I mean it's good that a person with a visible disability should be on Cbeebies) - but could they not have found another one-armed person who wasn't such a stary-eyed vacant twat?
And I don't like the bloke much either. He looks like the type that is being all hysterically nice to the DC so he can lure them into joining some dubious religious cult where they will end up in the Waco Compound.

littleducks · 30/01/2009 21:33

I am surprised that you lot didnt notice earlier about the womans hand, dd has noyiced i think on some level but hasnt asked, the other day i was a tiger and 'ate' he arm she immediately picked up a book and said "look i can read a book with just one hand, people do" after seeing Cerrie read the story so i thnk its a positive message

KayHarker · 30/01/2009 22:04

pmsl @ waco compound cbeebies presenter

MaggsS · 31/01/2009 12:04

For those missing Chris & Pui they were just on doing the lunchtime song.

DD2 was so pleased.

PLEASE COME BACK

kiltycoldbum · 31/01/2009 12:19

omg chris and pui are gone forever? sob! theyre the best! i love hugo monkey! my dd keeps asking why the newbie has only one arm ive tried the sensible explanation, perhaps she had an accident, perhaps she was born like that, perhaps she was poorly once, now where just onto it being eaten by a tiger, falling off etc, im sure we will love them very much in time to come

Sidge · 31/01/2009 12:54

Thank god for Sky Plus. We have bloody hours of Something Special on there, with a bit either side so I can sing along with Chris. I love the Funky Jungle Conga

What is the world coming to with so much change? First CBeebies, then Mumsnet

MammyINeedAWee · 05/03/2009 16:50

I am sure I will be in trouble for sayin this but have you noticed when cerrie laughs her wee armlet twitches?????

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 05/03/2009 17:04

When you laugh are your arms rigid at your side?

Fookin hell.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 05/03/2009 17:06

We have bedtime business and hugo monkey on the end of some charlie and lolas we recorded. Result!
