I was wondering if anyone here knew when the new series starts? I'm in need of a Winchester fix.

OP posts:

I must admit DS did watch Dr Horrible with me as he wouldn't leave my alone to watch it...I think I might listen to buffy musical soundtrack while I cook dinner in a minute.

though I am slowly showing him the classic films of the 80's ... goonies, indy, star wars, labyrinth.. (Serenity have you read flame's and my stories to that effect? ) the last unicorn... need to get ahold of a copy of legend next..

may pop Buffy on next time there is a good age appropreate episode on..

annaje · 05/03/2009 17:10

my DS's are 5 and 8 - so too young for supernatural - but they are aware of my obsession and the older one want's to know what the big deal is (he doesn't realise the 'big deal' is called Jensen)...

Mine have grown up on Indy and Star Wars and have never been into that 'age appropriate' crap that numbs the brain on CBeebies.......

On the other had, I wouldn't let them watch anything violent. The older one has seen some Buffy (I was obsessed and have all the box sets)!

BandMeeting · 05/03/2009 17:56

DD started off watching buffy from an early age (ie birth), then she suddenly became aware of what was on the night we watched Dawn of the Dead () - screamed hysterically at the first zombie. The next episode of Buffy that was on was The Zeppo (zombies) and it was all too much - she refused to watch it for a couple of years. DS has no fear (woke during Black Sheep and killer mutant sheep are apparently not the teeniest bit scary to my 2y/o ).

I have always been against any violence that isn't fantasy - hence buffy, angel, lord of the rings - all allowed, kicking and shooting crap for the hell of it, not. If it looks real, then it is more real to them iyswim . Oh and no power rangers due to bad acting.

I have tried my hardest, but I cannot make DD love the last unicorn - she gets bored . I want to try her on Unico, but my video is so old and precious I am wary of using it.

meridian · 05/03/2009 19:06

DS is manic on music.. DH bought him an electric guitar for christmas.. which hasn't been played all that much do to DS beign to tired from school.. but he loves anything music related.. he dance down the isle during high school musical 3... much to frizbe's and my amusement...completely oblivious to everyone else.. a Knight's Tale is his favourite movie.. knights and rock music what more could you ask for? he belted out along with a Heart best of cd the other day proud mummy moment .. so he liked the last unicorn as its songs.. I wish they would release Flight of Dragons on DVD though.. that was my favourite...

it will be a few years before he is old enough for supernatural.. i dont want to explain why mummy is drooling.. he will be old enough for Lost Boys in a few years!

"Death by Stereo" oodles of glee

KayHarker · 05/03/2009 19:30

Mine all love Star Wars, Willow and obv. Doctor Who.

I am mildly tempted by Supernatural, but I'd feel such a hussy. My heart belongs to Ten, and aren't the Supernatural boys a bit... well... too obvious?

meridian · 05/03/2009 19:37

Kay-- no they emote.. and feel the man pain... epic epic man pain times a billion-ty... bucket loads of man pain.. and monsters of the week.. and the Impala.. you know you want to watch... just give it a go watch a little bit and see if your heart dosen't melt towards the boys..

and there is music.. and sarcasim...and PIE!
and it wouldn't be cheating on Ten. just a bit of eye candy to get you through these trying times we dram of living in...did I mention the bit about them taking thier shirts off and getting beaten up rather alot? and lock picking? and and Sam is a ginormous geek.

KayHarker · 05/03/2009 19:49

Oh, there's geeks? Why didn't you say?

serenity · 05/03/2009 19:59

Quote from the Gawker blog about what Supernatural is..."Supernatural (about witch-hunting gay brothers who are in gay love with each other)" Is that what you mean by obvious Kay? {grin]

Supernatural in itself is a fabulous show (the awesomeness of the boys is just a cherry on top)

Lots of people do both [http://community.livejournal.com/sn_crossovers/tag/dr.+who Doctor Who and Supernatural], although I could never personally ship Dean and Rose shudders

Hey, I'm a Doctor Who geek and a Supernatural whatever the hell we are, and am seldom conflicted

serenity · 05/03/2009 20:01

Ok, I've benn LJing far too much if I can't do smilies and bloody links on here after 6 years practise...

DW & SPN

and

meridian · 05/03/2009 20:08

Serenity- dean and rose.. that is just vile.. shudders uncontrollably I feel dirty now just looking at the page...

I prefer a "wincest" free verse.. they are too pretty they must share... though bendy angels don't bother me so much...

dangles carrot Kay if you watch Supernatural you can read our fan fics... some are more innocent than others.. and some involve pie...and er.. tights...

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 05/03/2009 20:27

eww, you might just have killed it stone dead with that Rose ship, I genuinely can't ship her with anyone but the Doctor. Stems from reading a fic of her and Pete Tyler which I needed Brain Bleach for.

I'll have a think about it... um, giving Supernatural a go, just to be clear .

BandMeeting · 05/03/2009 21:16

lol @ "and tights"

@ rose too!

serenity · 05/03/2009 22:12

They're not all Rose/Dean are they? I read a really good one where Sam and Dean bump into Ten and Jack (no slashing, but Jack flirted outrageously) in a desert, but can't remember what on. The only het I read is Ten/Martha usually.

Rose/Pete? Now that is very, very wrong.

meridian · 05/03/2009 22:25

listens to crickets chirping in the wake of Serenity's confessions

Rose is just wrong anyway.. never liked her much to be honest.. too much whinging.. I get enough of that from DH and DS don't need to see it on tv... adored martha though because she was smart....

you will read my epic small fic when its finished though right Serenity? even if its not slash... and um not talking about the labyrinth one either

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 05/03/2009 22:40

Actually, I was troubled for days by a story involving a Ten and another David Tennant character and Martha.

Hey, wait a minute, I'm not catholic!

I do fancy Billie Piper a bit, so that's probably one reason why Rose works for me. But it's her loyalty to the Doctor that makes her attractive (and also, granted, really annoying sometimes), so shipping her with anyone else just doesne work for me. (and yes, Rose/Pete, beyond wrong)

I like some of the more straightforward Supernatural/Who crossovers. I've never done a crossover... hmm...

Being Human/Doctor Who anyone?

BTW, how many series is Supernatural now? Should I try and get hold of a cheapo boxset of the first series? Or is there another way to watch? I have no idea what channel it's on.

serenity · 05/03/2009 22:55

Nah, Billie Piper does absolutely nothing for me. I did read a fair few Rose/Nine and/or Ten fics, but then they got all domestic and comfortable, and I don't do comfortable, so I lost interest.(Rose/Jack/Doctor was quite...interesting, at times)

Meri - I have your labyrinth one on my list of things to do tomorrow (have a fairly quiet day so will indulge myself) and of course I will read your epic fic

Supernatural is on S4 atm. I'd be happy to lend you my S1 if it gets you hooked

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 05/03/2009 23:12

I do need to get the next few parts of my Ten/Rose story uploaded - it started out domestic-ish, but I'm doing something really horrible to Rose that Rose fans will probably scratch my eyes out for. [evil]

Hmm, I'll go do that now, who needs sleep?

Serenity, I'm going to have sneaky peek on youtube to see what I think, then I might take you up on that offer. I shall have to watch a whole series before writing anything, though, gotta get to know who they are. I mean, I can write you some generic slash right now, but 'tis not really what we're about is it?

serenity · 05/03/2009 23:21

Problem with Supernatural slashwise is that until S4 there wasn't really anyone to slash with except Sam/Dean, and a lot of people draw the line at improper brother touching It wasn't until S4 and the introduction of our incredibly bendy friend that there was actually a legitimate and not quite so morally wrong pairing (although I RFOL at the idea that blasphemous angel!porn is morally superior to good old wincest)

KayHarkersHeartBelongsToTen · 05/03/2009 23:28

Yeah, I can so see my highly moral and religious Dh being completely horrified by me slashing two fictional brothers, but being a-ok with me slashing a man and an angel

It is kinda biblical, though.

serenity · 06/03/2009 00:06

I don't think He minds too much crosses fingers or maybe as an atheist I fly under the radar a bit... (yes, I know that sentence is a bit contradictory)

I went on a bit of a tour of London churches last Sunday with a couple of LJers (I love religious art and architecture) and one of them had a a bit of a crisis as we listened to a rather majestic choir in Southwark Cathedral - had an attack of guilts over her rather epic and genius angel!porn. Unfortunately the same sweeping voices had the opposite effect on me as I got totally inspired ficwise and jotted notes down during the second lesson Neither of us have been struck down yet, although I'm a bit suspicious about the timely recurrence of my viral vertigo that's laid me low since Monday...

meridian · 06/03/2009 07:28

Serenity- as of not my fic is only 3 paragraphs long.. so not epic yet I plan to devote an hour to writing on it this afternoon before DH and DS get home... before the story dissapears from my little brain forever.

. angel!porn is just going to hell with wings on ... and there is something giggle worthy in the whole Michael Landon (Improperly) "Touched by an Angel"

bugger got to go make breakfast!

BandMeeting · 06/03/2009 07:55

Really do need to watch labyrinth over the weekend - tis the first time I have felt a niggle of an idea and I don't wanna lose it before it starts

meridian · 06/03/2009 10:49

you will most definitly have to watch Labyrinth then.. for research.. and several eps of Supernatural.. its your homework for the weekend! I think maybe I should have the same assignment.. wonder if DH will fall for that?

the morning has gone tits up but I created the book group blog and now I need coffee and to hang the laundry out.. then I'm devoting an hour to writing on my supernatural fic...

meridian · 09/03/2009 20:16

watched "Chris Angel is a Douchbag" this morning, while pretending I was doing the laundry..was going to watch the high school one tonight but its not avalible where I have been watching things streaming..

I did get somemore writing done the other day though not much.. I'm babysitting at a friends house now so I may write some notes in my journal before watching something rubbish on tv.

oh and need to re-watch the suicidal bi-polar bear episode with DH and pretend I haven't watched it allready.

serenity · 09/03/2009 21:28

I rewatched that one on Sunday

Have you been looking at any of the New Jersey "Salute to Supernatural" Con reports? Misha's panel was just fab, he's lovely.

There are loads of links to written reports and YouTube clips on Super-Wiki
