Why does GRJ think he's so funny? He puts on a funny outfit and thinks that's inherently funny. He sings a bit of Gilbert and Sullivan in a funny voice and thinks he's really funny. He moans a bit and dances about and thinks he's funny. Why doesn't someone just stop the televising of unfunny comedians? The other 2 are a little funny but partly because they don't seem to think that being funny just involves turning up.
I can't bear him. And actually, since I've seen his snooty/condescending/no self-awareness programme about Anger, he just looks like a man who has no idea who he is. Yuck.

YY - agree totally. I also think the first series was funnier because Dara and Rory just kept ending up together, and playing tricks on Griff, whereas this time GRJ is really trying too hard.

Funniest moment last night was Dara leaving the lifeboat .

DP watched this last night

I found it extremely boring

Was it meant to be funny? (genuine question!)

ipanemagirl · 06/01/2009 12:48

I have such a bad cold that I ended up watching it because I was shivering under blankets and felt too pathetic to turn it off. I really should have just turned it off. I think it's the laziest kind of tv in the world. Terrible commissioning. The last series (was it a series or one off?) was ok because of going down the Thames and being genuinely about the book, imo. Also seeing GRJ being so pleased with himself about his sail boat was just great, he's such a nob.
But no excuse for this one. And a great chunk about the Gilbert & Sullivan which most programmes would have just cut out for being dull and dreary. But they obviously had nothing better. Shocking considering what must have been a huge budget. RUBBISH!

notnowbernard I really think that they thought it was a funny programme unfortunately. But it's the emperor's new clothes isn't it? It needs someone to say Stop - this isn't any good, stop making it. But the prod company must have done a great pitch making it sound hiLARious.
Maybe some people found it funny. Did anyone else find it funny? I do quite like the hairy guy and the bald guy, they seem to be trying less and being more natural.

I thought it was awful, the most tedious thing I've seen on TV for ages

Would rather have watched Ian Hislop explore Britain's railway history (Zzzzz...)

ipanemagirl · 06/01/2009 13:04

notnowbernard, sadly I thought that Hislop thing looked great! But there's more of a reason to make that programme, and he doesn't think he's necessarily hysterically funny does he? He just does his job.
I hope someone has the courage to tell the powers that be that there should be NO MORE men in a boat ever ever ever.

I agree, Ipanemagirl

I need a [philistine] emoticon, really

I went to bed early last night in order to avoid watching Celebrity Big Brother... I know if I catch a mere minute I'll be hooked

I think I need to watch Ian Hislop eplore our rich and vibrant rail heritage

OrmIrian · 06/01/2009 13:10

I quite enjoyed it I must admit. But GRJ was a bit too self-important. When the twitcher guy (sorry Birder ) started to take the mick he didn't like it, inspite of the fact all that new gear was a deliberate pisstake to start with. He was determined to be a snidey git.

PestoMonster · 06/01/2009 13:19

I loved it when Rory & Dara managed to avoid GRJ in the pub. GRJ's nose was properly out of joint and he said he couldn't stand football either. He he.

ipanemagirl · 06/01/2009 21:48

notnowbernard I can't stand big brother any more but it's true, if you watch even a tiny bit it lures you in. I'm slightly intrigued by Ulrika for some unknown reason! But I must resist! It is like drinking a potion, willingly, labelled "Brain Rot"! I mean that Jackson lass, she just looks like she's mentally ill and shouldn't be allowed to take part.

OrmIrian, I loved that Birder for hating GRJ, he really hated him didn't he? It wasn't playful ribbing was it? It was proper dislike! Hurray for that man!

PestoMonster I remember from the first programme, GRJ got a massive cob on about something and it was very funny because he is literally a little old women except that's an insult to little old women!
