The Kate Beckinsale one was on one of the cable channels a couple of nights ago - but it was quite late, so I forced myself to go to bed.

Mrs. Bennett in the KK version is better though, a more sympathetic character than Alison Steadman. I have to admit to prefering Matthew McFadyen as Darcy, there is something in the way he portrays him that is just lovely. sigh

I also liked this Darcy, though can't help comparing KK to the BBC actress who was so much better.

Like Matt McFadyan and Colin Firth - can't we just have both

Preferred Jennifer Ehle to KK. Rosamund Pike is just so beautiful as Jane and I loved Simon Woods as Bingley with his fab red hair - they make such a lovely couple (perhaps because they actually dated in real life whilst at uni...)

Nope; Colin Firth doiesn't do it for me at all. I like Matthew much better! But if I could have any Austen hero it would be Colonel Brandon played by Alan Rickman. Yum yum.

Ah, now - Emma T's Sense and Sensibility. I consider that to possibly be the best costume adaptation EVER...

I'm sorry but Donald Sutherland's unfeasibly straight, brilliant white Hollywood veneers totally spoilt the KK version of Pride and Prejudice for me.

The Mr Collins in it was rubbish too.

Not a patch on the BBC's version featuring Colin Firth as Mr D'Arcy IMHO.
