Anybody else at the couple who managed to get 100k of their debt written off?

Its about cant pay/ wont pay and the companies who buy on debt. Am feeling v sorry for the woman trying to get her fathers debt sorted while her father is in a psychatrict hospital

The treatment of that woman who's father is in a psychiatric hospital was disgusting.

Incidentally, I don't know if anyone saw on another thread I think its 1st Credit who are hassing me for a non-existent debt. Apparently Scottish Power put them on to me because I "haven't paid anything to them for ages and its standard procedure". So they guessed I owe them £1k for electricity used in a flat which has been empty for 2 years and has a pre-payment meter so I can't use any unless I buy powercards! Apparently they just guess a figure and either the customer pays it or like I did phone and go totally bananas giving them meter readings to prove I don't owe anything

Still haven't heard back from them and I'm convinced its because THEY owe ME money.

Just shows how ruthless these companies are.

That couple who got £100k in debt written off ended up with a legal bill the same amount though.

It seems wreckless to run up that amount of debt and then try wriggle out of it! There are people out there in less debt because of the cost of living and they can't repay this.

Companies don't give a monkeys though.

That couple looked a little less smug when the presenter mentioned that they had "gotten away with it."

I do think a lot of companies try their hand hoping the person will just pay up in fright and then spend ages trying to get their money back. I've had it happen a few times and when I phone to say I have paperwork to prove they are wrong there is almost an air of disappointment!

I did snort when it came out at the end of the show that they had approx 100k in legal fees to pay now.

I had been watching the show muttering about how I/DH got ourselves into debt but we're working our asses off to pay it off and plan to pay off every last penny of what we borrowed per our agreement with the finance company, and I was getting irked by the "wont pay" people. So finding out about their 100k legal fees kind of made me feel that all was well in the universe again

I did check out their website, they charge £400 to do the service for you, nice little business!!
