'Sicko' - a Michael Moore film, and I'm not his biggest fan, but I've just seen Tony Benn's section and I'm all but waving my Union Jack....

Do you know, I think back on every single occasion that I have consulted a doctor or a hospital or whatever, and I am grateful all over again.

No matter what state the NHS is currently in, whatever it's inadequacies, I thank my lucky stars I pay into a system that provides basic care to all users regardless of their income or status.

Bit gushy, sorry, but DH was raised in SA and has spent the last half hour reminding me how he had to proffer a credit card before receiving treatment for his road crash.

I agree 100% The NHS isn't perfect but it's far better than the healthcare system in many countries imo.

What shocks me most is that people have to pay for ambulances in the US.

This film was great - it made me think twice before moaning about the NHS

Haven't seen the film - but I always get angry when people describe our hospitals as 'third world' um no we are extremely lucky to have the hospitals and care we do - yes some are dirty and need improvement but third world?? I don't think so!
