adam had g-o-n-e!!!

roisin · 27/10/2008 22:29

Ooh.. wasn't RA scrummy?

Having watched it I remembered I did watch Spooks once before, and didn't like it - too violent. But I think I might have to put my scruples aside in order to watch RA

llareggub · 27/10/2008 22:29

Zebs, watch it now on BBC3!

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 27/10/2008 22:35

Illaregubb. If only I can't even get Channel 5 let alone digital. God knows I've tried.

I'm consoling myself with The State Within and Jason Isaacs.

glitterfairy · 27/10/2008 23:17

The Fixer is on ITV with Tamsin Outhwaite.

Loved that episode and that was my Grandad Adam was talking about, he joined at 16 in the first world war and was wounded and my brother has his medal! I dont like them being killed off though at all.

Thought RA was good and looked as though he hadnt been properly fed in Russia. Ros is brill glad to have her back.

Apollinare · 27/10/2008 23:40

Have just watched part 2, as out tomorrow night - and in the trailer for next week I am nearly SURE I saw Adam - or is it wishful thinkig?? Did anyone else see him?

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/10/2008 07:57

Ooh Glitter, that must have felt odd. Does your bruv write all of Harry's one-liners? They're part of why it's all so good.

Craggy · 28/10/2008 08:00

WHY?????????????????

whooosh · 28/10/2008 08:10

I'm with heated-can anyone give us a brief description of what happened at the end of the last series with Ros,Adam and Jo.

Pleeeeeease.

mummydoc · 28/10/2008 08:58

ok whoosh this is what happened, ros betrayed them and then ended up in some complicated plot were she was supposedly killed by baddies , but it was a faked death, they buried her but Adam went into the church to say goodbye and injected her with an antidote and brought her round she then had to "dissappear" only harry and adam were supposed to know but jo saw ros walking away .... meanwhile in the last episdoe jo and adam get captured by a group who basically torture for secrets then sell on their victims to the next group ( not nice) jo begs adam to kill her as she cannot stand the thought of being tortured but he tries to tell she can be strong and they will be rescued ( it was pretty strong stuff) it ended with him apparently killing her just momnets before rescue, but hte opening scene last night was the toruturer coming in and adam getting jo to pretend to be dead just as the good guys stormed in , the baddie has adam with a gun to his head but jo ( playing dead behind in) leaps up and floors the baddie ...hey presto all saved....cannot believe they killed adam off so soon....am devastated...RA doesn't do it for me....but sppoks do have this habit of bumping off a major character at the beginning of the series.

mummydoc · 28/10/2008 09:00

oh forgot to add that adam didn't know that ros had been re-recruited , hence his surprise last night ...

Heated · 28/10/2008 09:16

Thanks mummydoc for bringing me up to speed - last tepisodenow makes much more sense

Are you going to explain every epidode to me?

noolia · 28/10/2008 09:22

Oh no! Adam! RA doesn't do it for me either. Ros is such a queen of cool, but I did think her coat was a bit obviously spookish.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/10/2008 09:34

Ooooh RA definitely does it for me. Go and watch North & South Mummydoc & Noolia. You'll be converted, I promise. He makes Colin Firth look a wuss.

Heated · 28/10/2008 09:45

North & South is fab.

glitterfairy · 28/10/2008 09:55

Zebs, no only in the episodes he writes. The bit about the bird when adam was talking to Jo in the last series last episode was my Dads garden and what he says about the birds in it, although my Dad says my brother got it wrong! LOL.

Looking forward to tonight.

ZebsRoomofHerOwn · 28/10/2008 10:01

Well next week I'll be watching it with not one but two ex-army intelligence officers. So I can't wait to hear what they think is wrong with it.

glitterfairy · 28/10/2008 11:19

Possibly the same as watching a medical drama with medics. Personally I know that none of these things are completely realistic because they cant be it would be boring!

fairylights · 28/10/2008 11:31

can't believe they finished off adam so soon!! and i don't find richard armitage at all attractive (sorry i know everyone else does!). Zaf was my favourite and i still can't believe he is gone and now adam too. will be an interesting test of whether i was watching spooks for the script or for the men
and wish i had known the next one is on tonight, i will be out..will have to watch on iplayer, ah well.

Notquitegrownup · 28/10/2008 11:39

Wow Glitterfairy. DH's comment last night was that he'd love to know who writes these things! That was praise indeed from dh, who normally sniffs through any TV drama, muttering about how predictable it is. Did your brother have to do any background research into the security forces or does he just read a lot of spy novels?

I do wish they would recruit a few more members of the team though. It is sooo irritating that MI5 appears to have only 6 operatives available in the whole of London. Now who was it who suggested Colin Firth . . . .alongside RA . . . . Mmmmmmmm

TwoIfByScream · 28/10/2008 12:06

Hadn't watched this series since Matthew McFadyen left but am so glad I tuned in last night.

Even though RPJ is gone, I can now see why everyone goes on about Richard Armitage.

whooosh · 28/10/2008 12:26

Oh thank you Mummydoc-all make sense now but I still wish they hadn't "killed" Adam.....

CurseOfTheMinnieMummy · 28/10/2008 14:13

Loved Ros's coat in Moscow!

However... just watched it now this afternoon with my rice cakes for lunch and... I couldn't help it, a little tear came out when Harry went to meet Wes. Saaaaad!!

Ok, attempting to go get life now...

BTW, I did once see Peter Firth (aka Harry) in John Lewis. Was very tempted to say 'I think you're great!' (also when he was 'Dominic Hyde' in BBC 80s drama) or similar but decided the poor man needed some peace to do his bin shopping and let him be. Still made me feel a bit giggly though.

Notquitegrownup · 28/10/2008 14:15

Know what you mean Curse. I came face to face with Pat Butchers from Eastenders in our Sainsbury's recently, and had to work soooo hard not to burble some garbage, nor to look in her basket to race home and tell MN what she has for tea!

philpot · 28/10/2008 14:37

I wanted a Matthew MacFaddyen style end for him, not that, I sat like a fish with my mouth open for about five minutes trying to pull myself together.
I agree about Ruth, want her back for Harry.
I reckon that Jo will get killed off soon, a shocker, like the deep-fat frier in the first series.
