Help! I watched it but the kids were up and down (dd had night terrors) and someome phoned and I have no idea what was happening in episode two, please, can anyone fill me in? All I saw was Juliet Stevenson trying to get George to reveal all, his having a heart attack, more people not talking to her, the police finding the stepdad had photos of him (raping?) the stepdaughter/victim, the daughter being sick after drinking too much...but couldnt' thread all this together.

The girl in the photos doesn't look 13 either! She looks about 18!!

Yes its the last one next Monday. I have a theory below if anyone's interested.

I really don't think she is dead. I think she may have had a baby too. Maybe in that cave and thats why there was loads of blood? Its just a theory of mine. Its definitely a frame up I think. Maybe the Mum found out he was messing with her daughter and that she was preggers so they came up with a plan to get back at him??? Anyone else thinking that too?

Re - Nobody noticing the pregnancy. I thought about that but to be honest, and I might be a bit nuts here, I am thinking some of the villagers might know something about whats gone on. In the first episode there seemed to be a wall of silence around the people in the village. They only told the police something when it looked like the investigation was going cold. So its possible that some of them would know about the pregnancy. Plus, there is that old lady character who seemed to be the matriarch figure of the village. I bet she definitely knows something!!

Or maybe the girl didn't have the baby in the cave but has gone away to have his baby? Then the blood in the cave would have been planted there or something. Not sure about that bit, cos they said it was about 3 pints of blood so who's blood would it be then? 3 pints seems like a lot of blood to me! : ) xx

Pretty good ending I thought, if a little far fetched!!

I was way off about the pregnancy but got some things right so am quite pleased with myself. Greg Wise was a right dirty perv wasn't he? Yuk!!

I missed it. My colleague has just filled me in, and it sounds like a very intriguing, convoluted, unexpected ending. Was it good? It sounds like it was.

Alison is the one with the daughter,who ends up with George's son(again,missing from TV adaptation)
The reason Alison 'disappeared' in book was dure to pregnancy by stepfather. Theme of set up by villagers same though.

It would have made so much more sense if Alison had been pregnant. That would have explained why she went away etc.. Seems strange to change that aspect of the story.
