i didnt see anyone rowdy

Carmenere · 23/10/2008 14:12

I have just watched it on iPlayer and I would have thrown the clangers off the show as it is inexcusable to offer just cabbage as a main course and he has consistently under-ordered which shows a lack of basic understanding of his kitchen. It is not even vaguely acceptable to bleat that everyone got fed as an excuse, it is not a scouts jambouree, it is a restaurant with a menu, you need to be able to offer what is on the menu and a certain amount of wastage should be worked into your overheads.

And I HATE when chefs dismiss vegetarians as a nuisance. I'm not veggy but I have seen this pathetic contempt and lack of ability to provide for dietary requirements in manay restaurants and all it says about the chef is that he is crap. He could have and should have knocked up something delicious for those vegans, it is not difficult when you have the resources of a professional kitchen to hand.

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 14:14

Is he professionally trained?

I'd like to see PoodleHead and LimpDick go tonight, but I have a feeling it's going to be The Clangers.

filz · 23/10/2008 14:16

the man with the weird eyes is

filz · 23/10/2008 14:16

mr shifty eyes

Carmenere · 23/10/2008 14:18

Mr Shifty eyes worked his way up in TGIFridays or some other such salubrious establishment. he has worked in professional kitchens but is not trained to the degree that RB would need him to be in order to trust him to run a kitchen.
Major corporate chains such as TGIF are VERY concerned with wastage which is why he under-orders.

filz · 23/10/2008 14:21

omg they just serve burgers and crap
they are like a glorified burger king but with wine

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 14:24

Ah, I can see where RB would have concerns.

My all-time fav one of these shows is when Gordon Ramsay went to Paris to help some utter cow in Kitchen Nightmares and wound up pinching the young woman, professionally trained, the cow's dad had hired in to work in one of his restaurants in London.

I think RB's going to go with James because in all honestly he's about the only one who shows some promise when it comes to cooking, although as Sarah pointed out he'll need a lot of training.

filz · 23/10/2008 14:25

Oh I remember that expat, it was fab. that woman was so spoilt

Cremolatorium · 23/10/2008 14:27

I remember that GR one expat. She was a right wally - the one who had the restaurant- thought the world por daddy owded her a living.Remeber thinking "what I wouldn't do for an opportunity to run a little place like that"
stoopid moo

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 14:32

Yeah, the young chef felt the same way! She admitted she'd have loved the opportunity to open up a wee place like that. Loved her face when Gordon asked her if she'd like to work in one of his restaurants.

Um, yes, please!

But she's also been professionally trained and worked up from KP.

filz · 23/10/2008 14:35

has she? i was so pleased for her. Love an happy ending

flatmouse · 23/10/2008 14:40

It's got to be clangers out tonight.

I think Mr LoveDove can cook - and wasn't he praised for his tidy workspace (altho generally IME tidy workspace = no work).

Each episode leads to much confusion as to how there is so very little common sense shown by all!

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 14:43

she'd been trained up here at a college in Edinburgh - she mentioned it all whilst chatting with Gordon.

at the end of the show, she was being introduced to the rest of the staff in London by Gordon and was pressed right into work.

VERY cool considering she'd given up her job in Scotland and moved to Paris to go work for that utter cow.

she was good, too, creating a menu, making great food and bringing in the punters with it.

just glad she didn't get totally screwed by that spoilt brat.

it reminded me of that whole Harriet and her dad thing in this series of The Restaurant, where he was basically setting her up in business to give her something to do.

Poledra · 23/10/2008 15:02

Oh, I remember that GR show - wasn't she the woman who failed to turn up and open her restaurant because she wanted to stay near her pregnant cat? Not a good way to run a business.

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 15:05

Yes, she left Gordon waiting there for hours because her cat was giving birth.

She also ditched him on a lunch shift.

Blackduck · 23/10/2008 15:44

Cheerful soul got the rowdy ones - but apparently they weren't that rowdy! Hence nothing to see...

flatmouse · 23/10/2008 18:31

so cheerful soul got celeriacs (yes i still can't get the word right) and not rowdy rowdy ones
art gallery got supper club who were just moany not awkward and one celeriac
clangers got mix of 10 veggie/vegan

No excuse for such a poor performance but the clangers had the hardest deal.

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 23/10/2008 19:17

If the vegan guest could go next door and buy nuts why couldn't one of the Clangers team - would have taken 5 mins. He just saw them as a problem whereas James saw the coeliacs as an interesting challenge.

Boys will win now fo sho.

I also remember that GR episode - was great one for shouting at the telly!

CatMandu · 23/10/2008 19:31

Haven't been joining in, but have been watching avidly ever since Kanga started this thread. I have to say I like the clangers, Loveydoves are far too gooey and the boys are so inept I can't stand it.

RTKangaMummy · 23/10/2008 20:29

OMG I have just realized

OP posts:
PictureThis · 23/10/2008 20:38

I think the Clangers may be going home this week

megcleary · 23/10/2008 20:41

realised what RTKM

expatinscotland · 23/10/2008 20:42

it's curtains for the clangers, methinks.

JuxBackFromTheDead · 23/10/2008 20:45

that boy James is an arrogant shit. You, Raymond Blanc, didn't provide enough fish. My customers will do without bread. Can't stand him.
