I'm really warming to Russell and Michelle aka lovey-dovey couple! I think they could be the winners even if they are a bit wet!

Agree that James and Alistair are pure comedy!

Looks like the lovey couple all the way then. Although James (I'm not gay worked in Michelin rest but I know work as a bouncer) can cook very well - possibly the best but as a couple they won't cut the mustard. The Chinese guy would make an Ok sous chef (not in charge). Can't see Mr TGI and his wife making it. Mr & Mrs domestic cook could run their own business as long as they stay within narrow boundaries.

Best laugh was the Mexcians - you could do loads more even without any hob at all - much more inspired salads - avacados, chilli then easy to pan fry meat for fatitias.

Still enjoy it as good car crash tv

Carmenere · 02/10/2008 14:21

The cheerful soul couple have an edge over the rest because they have already run a catering business together so they understand the way each other works. They have already ironed out a lot of the difficulties that the other couples are trying to negotiate. I think they will probably win.

wannaBe · 02/10/2008 14:37

so do you think that James has actually "been fired" from two michelin starred restaurants?

If he's such a good chef and so passionate about it then I can't see why he would now be working as a bouncer?

RTK when are you allowed to divulge which restaurant it was you dined at?

RTKangaMummy · 02/10/2008 15:16

We are really enjoying it too

Our friends were there last night

Is there really any doubt as to who will get elbowed tonight???

pagwatch · 02/10/2008 15:47

I loved the guest at the mexican buffet who said 'you can ask me which Mexican dishes are missing and i would have to say all of them'

It was just butt clenchingly awful. I had to stand at the door half in the hall. It was as if I couldn't look at it directly.
Fab tv.....

wannaBe · 02/10/2008 15:57

a friend of mine has said she thinks me and her should apply next year.

She said she will do the FOH and I can do the cooking. I wonder what the television audiences would think of a blind chef?

wannaBe · 02/10/2008 16:00

we could have

this
as our concept. at least then I wouldn't have to worry about my presentation skills.

Blackduck · 02/10/2008 16:05

I also wonder about that idea, how do you find your mouth, how come the waiter doesn't pour the soup in your lap? No, no, not a good idea! But hey, presentationally you couldn't be worse than the mexican pair could you? That carrot wrap!

pagwatch · 02/10/2008 16:10

I was pleased DS1 was watching. It has given me a totally new bar to try and clamber over.

He did instantly shout -" blimey even mums cooking isn't that bad "

wannaBe · 02/10/2008 16:15

"how do you find your mouth," the same as you would ordinarily - you can't see your mouth after all can you?

A waiter at le manoir told me about this concept - he said that apparently the cutlery is luminous.

I would have some reservations about the waiting staff though.

Blackduck · 02/10/2008 17:17

The cutlery is luminous I am get some weird images here
Mind you no different from Heston blindfolding you I suppose....

Blackduck · 02/10/2008 17:20

What I meant was you can't see what's on the fork so how do you know if its too much/too little, going to go everywhere. And I know I can't SEE my mouth but you can see the fork going towards it....IYSWIM

wannaBe · 02/10/2008 17:26

well I guess you don't really, or in fact whether there's anything on the fork at all . I can only say that with experience it becomes easier, although there are foods which I will never eat in public such as spaghetti.

But I guess that's why it's an interesting concept, and also you're not alone as all guests are in the same situation.
welcom to my world,

Blackduck · 02/10/2008 17:28

Hey I won't eat spaghetti in public either! Doesn't stop ds thou'...... Interesting thou' I wonder if it tastes better/different? You know concentrating the senses and all that...

eightsixandtwo · 02/10/2008 17:42

Well that wasn't a surprise, it is really irritating me but he reminds me of someone in RL.

megcleary · 02/10/2008 21:04

am so not suprised they are gone bless them

SciFiFan · 02/10/2008 21:07

I am so glad Wallace (the Lancashire chap) has gone. He would drive me mad...didn't seem like he could ever just shut up.

Plus he was giving those of us from Lancashire a bad name...Lancashire Hotpot with Rosti on the top - my nan would have been horrified (once someone had explained to her what Rosti actually was ).

MaggsS · 02/10/2008 21:15

A chinese man who can't cook rice....ROL.
At least Wallace had a good sense of humour.

What about the lamb.........they thought the name was the breed but actually it was the name of the farmer......... I could not stop laughing.

Can't wait till next week . The clip looked really interesting. ie Lindsey banning some chap from the restaurant.
