only half watching but something to do with almost becoming immune to the testosterone levels

I just knew there would be women here watching that programme and praying (as I was!) that JB would prove to be as straight as they come. Somehow I never doubted the issue though, and I am very happy for him that he was so pleased with his results.

The thing about being gay because he is a third son is a bit off though. It only increased his chances, which is not the same as being the cause of his gayness. So as to finding out why he was gay, I thought the programme was spectacularly inconclusive.

Nice to watch an hour long programme devoted to the great JB though.

All a bit odd, I thought. I totally respect him for doing it, but cod science is certainly how it came across to me. Who you fancy is who you fancy. We're such complicated people, and relationships - from platonic friendship to erotic love and all the many permutations in between - are so not an exact science.

Any 'scientific' exploration can only possibly be at a superficial level right now. Maybe we'll 'get' it in a few hundred years time, but I doubt it.

My maths is not the grestest, but surely there are less men with 4 or more older brothers that those with 1. So, would it not stand that the precentages are higher because the sample sizes are smaller????

SciFiFan · 25/07/2008 11:46

I haven't watched the programme yet (hopefully it's on iplayer) but my DH is a third son - should I be worrying?

RustyBear · 25/07/2008 11:55

JimJamMum - unless your sample is very small, it shouldn't affect the percentage

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 12:36

well, no, scififan... because there's nothing wrong with being gay...

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 12:36

but if your tweezers start goiing missing...

KayHarker · 25/07/2008 13:02

Aitch... I kind of think there'd be something to worry about if her Dh is a possibly gay... not her Ds, mind, but her husband, yeah, I'd worry and I don't think there's anything wrong with being gay

ExterminAitch · 25/07/2008 13:04

gawd, yer such a prude, KH. live a little.

zippitippitoes · 25/07/2008 13:05

exh is one of five brothers and one sister

the two youngest brothers are both gay

MrsWeasley · 25/07/2008 13:08

I watched this because it was JB

Personally I dont mind if he is gay or not, I am happy to lust after him either way

I just loved it when he meet up with his childhood friend and they talked about the games they played. I was Laughing out Loud

I still think it was weird how he talked to his parents in such a broad Scottish accent, and then to his boyfriend in a very American one. Very odd. And he his face looked totally different when he spoke in his Scottish accent.
I thought that was more mesmerising than all the old stuff about gayness.

KayHarker · 25/07/2008 13:15

lol Aitch, yeah, the blog is ample evidence of my prudery and shy, retiring nature

EffiePerine · 25/07/2008 13:18

wot dodgy science on tv?

TwoIfBySea · 25/07/2008 13:40

I wasn't too sure what the point of the programme was - would have prefered a Who Do They Think They Are? featuring him.

But did you see his boyfriend? Hubba hubba indeed.

Gays get the best and we get all the rest.
