The singer in the R White's lemonade ad was Elvis Costello's dad

(possibly my favourite bit of 70s telly trivia)

taipo · 18/07/2008 21:53

Oh, I remember the Changes, Loriycs. Like you, I remember that noise every time I see a pylon. Tis weird seeing it again after all that time. Weren't child actors posh in those days?

I remember Kizzie too, so I guess we're about the same age

Joolyjoolyjoo · 18/07/2008 21:55

God, I loved all of these!! Still remember sitting avidly on a saturday morning watching the test card and waiting for Champion The Wonder Horse!! Also remember the Red Hand Gand, Huckleberry Finn, The Littlest Hobo (There's a voice, keeps on calling me...)

What was the program with the truly creepy Ugly Wuglies in it???

PictureThis · 18/07/2008 21:57

Loriycs · 18/07/2008 22:04

Loriycs · 18/07/2008 22:08

wessexgirl · 18/07/2008 22:09

ROFL, PictureThis, thanks for that YouTube!

I am constantly humming this tune and it drives dh mad that neither he nor I can remember where we know it from.

Result!

Joolyjoolyjoo · 18/07/2008 22:09

a girl from my school was in changes. i was so i still can't look at a pylon without feeling a bit mean.

TwoIfBySea · 18/07/2008 23:49

Lol at that Changes clip. The intro at the beginning was really selling it wasn't he.

Kill the kettle!

Hartley Hare used to scare me - demonic eyes. Another nightmare was that one, with the people turning into stones...can't remember the name, have probably blocked it out!

I loved Jamie and the Magic Torch as well as Bagpuss and Heidi (some rolls for you Grandmother?) I also liked Sapphire and Steel although it looks complete pants now.

Anyone remember the programme about rabies coming to Britain? Ah, those cheery days of youth.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 18/07/2008 23:51

The people turning into stones was the same one with the ugly-wuglies, I'm sure!! Somethind about kids in a big house, lawns etc- stately home kinda thing

taipo · 19/07/2008 10:01

I remember the rabies programme. I think it was called 'The Mad Death'. Absolutely terrified me at the time.

lucyellensmum · 19/07/2008 10:40

i remember the "mad death" sunday nights, used to watch it with eyes as big as plates and cry too - Why did my parents allow me to watch this?

lucyellensmum · 19/07/2008 10:42

i was scared of the clocks on hartley hare - i was a sensitive child

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 19/07/2008 19:58

I had the babapapa annual too. I loved White Horses.I sing it to my little girl now.

I loved it in the Christmas hols when they used to put Laurel and Hardy on and Tarzan films.Bloody brill.
I you tubed Laurel and Hardy the other night and nearly pmsl my daughter thought it was funny too so there is hope.

Todays tv is shite

LaVieEnRose · 19/07/2008 20:44

TwoIfBySea the people turning into stones is The Enchanted Castle I think. I just remember the chidren being trapped inside a stone dinosaur . I think....

mejon · 19/07/2008 21:09

I loved Barbapapa and had a book too - wish I knew where it went. I recently bought two Pipkins DVDs 'for DD' but I think she's too young to appreciate them yet! Hartley Hare always reminded me of Larry Grayson.

southeastastra · 19/07/2008 21:10

you can get barbapapa bed linen still on la redoute. i had the annual

i loved chockys children and children of the stones
