Anyone reading the new Buffy/Angel comics - comments here!

I'm new to Mumsnet so apologies if there is already a thread on this somewhere else.

I've been getting the Buffy and Angel Season 8 & 6 comics since they started a few months back but have no one to discuss them with.

I personally prefer the Angel comics and am quite excited about the new Spike short run comic which is due out soon. Hopefully there will be more of him in his red PJ's (minus top part of course).

It's just a shame it's in comic format rather than TV - though I'm starting to get used to this format.

Anyone else out there reading them?

You know what - I have absolutely no idea what IDW stands for, it doesn't say on the comic (quick google reveals it stands for Idea and Design Works) Like SciFiFan says, it's down to 'rights' so both publishing houses would have to agree before they could do a serious crossover (dream sequences not counting I think )

In some ways it's a bugger that it's canon, as that means that the Queen of the Slayers book definitely isn't and I quite liked that. Never mind, I'm just happy to get some Whedon written Buffy/Angel

So weird that publishing houses own those rights now. I always wonder what it must be like for authors who sell the film rights for their novels and then have no power over what the studio chooses to do with the text.

is Caprica excited about BSG?

if there is any consolations on telly that is it and about to go

there is only one other thing on tv non scifi which I LOVE and that too is about to go.

I will re read what I have of Buffy as it has been a while
and will seek out the Angel stuff

there are many many fans on MN as I recall from loads of threads over the years

but then most of MN has above average intelligence anyway

I read the latest ones last night - not sure about the new artist for Buffy. Maybe I'd just got used to the previous artist.

Really not sure about giant Dawn or Mecha Dawn.

Should there be spoiler alerts on here??

I don't object too much to spoilers - anything that helps me follow the storylines

I know what you mean about following the storylines - I struggle to know which character is talking sometimes let alone understanding what they're saying.

I like Buffy's 'Great Odin I miss the sex' line from one of the earlier comics and was surprised by Ethan's appearance all be it brief (I'd convinced myself it was going to be the Spike crossover ).

It was cool though when Willow appeared to fight Amy and said 'I'd like to challenge that' (or words to those effect) in the same way that Giles did to her at the end of S6.

Caprica - don't worry about BSG spoilers from me. I haven't seen it yet - I kinda missed the beginning and never caught up. Keep reading all the rave reviews in SFX and am thinking I must get round to getting the DVDs sometime .

how many Angel are there? is forbidden planet the best place to get them from?

I think Angel is up to #10 (I've only got #9) Forbidden Planet is good, as would any independant comic shop, but I'd imagine if you gave the details to WHS or similar they might be able to order then for you. FP is good because if you preorder, then you get a discount when you pick them up.

BSG looks good, but we didn't have Sky when it started so have missed it. We've got the first season or so ready to watch, just haven't got round to it yet.

actually there is a really good independent shop in town, I always forget it is there, last time I was in I was still pregnant and dd is now 3

sfxmum, I get my Buffy and Angel in book form through Amazon. Obv not as quick as getting the individual comics but I don't mind waiting for them volume by volume. I have the first two Buffy ones and am waiting for the first Angel to be delivered. Amazon probably not the speediest way to get them but convenient for me as I order with them a lot.

Hey - I'd read about it in SFX and even though it's a Joss W I wasn't too sure about the concept. The trailer looks v cool though.

Do we know when it's out and when we can expect to get it in the UK??

no idea as yet expect BBC to mess up purchase and it going to some satellite channel at least there are always ways of getting it

Hey all - the new Spike - After the Fall comic is now out and he's looking good.

I do miss my James Marsters fix - here's hoping he's back for Season 3 Torchwood. Though I have heard that is going to be a short series run on consecutive nights - about 5 or 6 episodes only .

By the way re the Buffy comics - who is Fray? Is she some future Slayer??
