Alcoholics are given extra benefits to buy booze???

Are you sure??

I was shocked at the conditions in which those poor children were bringing themselves up.

TwoIfBySea · 08/07/2008 11:49

I don't know if it is just in Scotland mumble but yes, they are.

It is horrific but there you go.

You get nothing in this life for being honest and hard-working except for a clear conscience.

I could only watch 5 mins of this last night. Had to turn it off as it would be bad for my blood pressure.

Why did he agree to do this programme? He is such a twat that he must have thought that he would come across as an OK dad.

Feel so sorry for all his DCs but especially the older one as they seem to be doing most of the parenting. Very sad.

I watched this last night and was so shocked.

More so about the way at the end the programme makers switched to "look at how happy this family is despite everything!"

Them all frolicking about in the park, laughing and hugging each other, throwing knives with Dad.... as Mum looks on swigging a can of Strongbow....

And then, wouldn't it be nice to have another baby

Fimbo · 08/07/2008 14:33

I just made me want to cry. I couldn't stop comparing the life my dd and ds have in comparison to those poor children.

MmeLindt · 08/07/2008 14:42

It was horrible to watch, I kept telling myself to switch over. I really thought that they would end by sayign that the children had been taken into care.

I thought that it was not sensationalism, there was no judgy tone. They just presented the family as they saw them and let the viewer draw their own conclusions.

It would be interesting to know if SS are more involved now. I cannot believe that there have not been a barrage of complaints.

Ripeberry · 08/07/2008 20:11

Watched that programme last night and all through it felt very sorry for the poor little kids, what kind of future do they have?
And most of the time it looked like their bedding was really filthy and no-one seemed to have a duvet for some reason?
Sad to think that lots of people in this country live like this.

expatinscotland · 08/07/2008 21:13

it made me want to buy more bedding for the kids.

DD1's got a better mattress than we have!

am saving up for DD2's, because she's getting the same one - a Silent Night with a lovely mattress cover - around December.

I have honestly never been so upset over a documentary.

I spent the majority of it crying Those poor, poor children. Broke my heart to see that they had all forgotten about the toddler, and he was trying to tuck himself down on the carpet with a tiny little sheet over him at night time.

The place where that lazy, twunt that has the nerve to call himself a father lives is only about 7 mins away from me by car I was ashamed to be from anywhere near them

wuzzlefraggle · 09/07/2008 15:17

** by that, I meant ashamed to be from anywhere near the parents that think that is an acceptable way to behave and bring up children.
