Is anyone else watching this? There's no way it's real, it has to be some sort of Black Mirror style programme.

Yes it's a real programme.... just not a real gameshow.

Quite

Littleguggi · Yesterday 21:38

I want to go to bed but now I have to see this though 😂

Flaskfan · Yesterday 21:38

Oh god, I can see pshe co ordinators across the land rubbing their hands 😆

UnpopularOpinionsIWouldUsuallyKeepToMyself · Yesterday 21:38

Think they stole the concept from Inside No.9 3X3…..

haha same

MrsMitford3 · Yesterday 21:42

Ugh I don't need a lecture thanks-would have preferred the murder

bardabunga · Yesterday 21:42

I'm in the middle of watching a repeat of an old Midsomer Murders episode, which is arguably more interesting, so I shall come back to this thread a bit later to find out what you all say.😁

LittlePickleHead · Yesterday 21:42

Yeah bit disappointed, I thought it was going to be a Halloween themed bloodbath

SixAndJuliet · Yesterday 21:47

To be fair, it got people’s attention and has got a message across.

HobgoblinNorFoulFiend · Yesterday 21:50

Oh just what I needed, a lecture from the telly. I was hoping it might be another Ghostwatch.

Flaskfan · Yesterday 21:50

Wonder how many people watched it though. Ds is a teen and was desperate to watch it, so maybe it hits the target audience. He's loving the analysis.

SixAndJuliet · Yesterday 21:51

You’d be a bit pissed off if you were a genuine audience member thinking you were going to watch a million pound game show and ended up at an anti gambling event.

Flaskfan · Yesterday 21:52

Quite a move by ch4 to name the companies...especially their sponsors.

Littleguggi · Yesterday 22:03

Wow impressive! 👏

SabreIsMyFave · Yesterday 22:06

Thanks for the heads up! Set this to record on Ch4+1. I will watch soon.!

Lifenov86 · Yesterday 22:11

It was painfully obvious it was an anti gambling show that within five minutes. It could have been done better. Great message but it won’t get thought to those who really need to hear it

Piggywaspushed · Yesterday 22:34

The first contestant ( the woman) was a terrible actress and had my spidey senses tingling. Also, his card wasn't signed.

As soon as Bradley started offering lures , it became obvious.

chunkybee · Yesterday 22:37

Ds and I put this on half way through thinking it was a real game show. Straight away I said “why is this guy acting so crazy” then it was the heckler and the dramatic cutting out. I said to ds that if it were genuine it wouldn’t even be on air, it’s not like it’s live. Utterly bizarre telly.

Does anyone sign their cards now a days?!

polyhymnia · Yesterday 23:38

Just watching. Had thought it was real and was horrified and quite upset. Thank heavens it’s not. But bizarre… Presumably then Bradley is in his actor mode?

polyhymnia · Yesterday 23:42

Will it actually help anyone with a gambling problem though? BTW, am also relieved the ‘ contestant’ isn’t a real history teacher.

Why are people saying that it was a lecture? It was a warning - and if you're not somebody who is affected by addiction to gambling, then it was clearly not aimed at you; but rather it would exist to raise wider awareness of what sufferers go through and the nasty tricks that the gambling companies pull - which would not be known or obvious to those of us who don't gamble, short of maybe the odd raffle ticket or a fiver on the seaside 2p machines.

Yes, the acting wasn't ultra top notch - although remember that they had to film it in a very short space of time before releasing it, to avoid the word getting out about what the 'twist' was; and if they'd had well-known actors (other than Bradley), it would have fallen at the very first fence.

Unless you're a supporter of the big, predatory gambling companies, I don't see why anybody would have cause to object to it being made or shown.

I do!

And you could see it had no identifiable features of a card.

I have no objections.

The concept fell flat though because people are discussing the show, whether they were hoodwinked , and how they feel about this - rather than the message.

I also suspect it had low audiences.

This was rumoured last week to be a fake black mirror style show, my daughter read it somewhere so I watched it just to see what it was about. Very bad acting though.
