I think people just need to get over the fact the show has new presenters. Let’s be honest, nobody wanted them to do well before they started going by the comments all over social media. All this talk of them stepping down, would whoever replaced them actually win? Or would everyone just witch hunt them like this trio. I very much remember everyone tearing into Tess for YEARS for being wooden and this now seems somewhat forgotten and the show just “isn’t the same”! It's an entertaining, lighthearted TV show and these are actually people who are doing their best. The comments across the socials are ridiculous and so OTT. People just need to let them do their thing and either enjoy it or just move on.

Great post and I totally agree with you.

I am so sick of people moaning about the new presenters. I honestly think they are all doing a great job. Josh and JoJo seemed very nervous at first but they have both, to me, settled in well. I am actually loving the fact that JoJo talks to the couples about the dance, the steps etc which Claudia could not do.

I also agree that no matter who the replacements were (or are in the future) people will just moan and moan. I feel sorry for Josh with some of the horrible comments being made about him.

I am enjoying Strictly as much as I ever have. The judges actually annoy me far more than the presenters, particularly Shirley.

Tinydanceer · 25/10/2026 14:46

Words out on daily mail they are definitely going to change presenters next year and they know it’s not working

Im of the camp we don’t have to be keep waiting for them to bed in, for a sat eve flagship show we can expect presenters that can hit the ground running and be funny straight off

I think people miss Claudia, not so much Tess - she was wooden - it was Claudia that made it funny

I agree

AnneShirleysNewDress · 25/10/2026 15:07

I think JoJo has improved since the first show and he was good last night. Josh is always better on the Sunday show, he seems more relaxed.

But even if they are replaced next year the exact same thing will happen because we are a society full of people who think their opinion, as mean/unnecessary/unkind/bullyish/condescending/patronising is more important then people’s feelings and it has to be shared and repeated and repeated and repeated as much as necessary because it’s just SO important.

I hope they don’t replace them. Maybe it’s time strictly got a new audience!

I don’t think it’s anything of the sort - they are presenters on a show for which we can have an opinion, not personal friends we have to support on a journey learning to be a presenter - we can say they aren’t good if they are not without worrying about their feelings

I don’t think people are hard to please - you just need decent presenters for this kind of high profile role who can hit the ground running

contrary to your claim I never see endless threads complaining about tv show presenters

autumngirl714 · 25/10/2026 15:22

We will absolutely have to agree to disagree on that one!

But just being kind to good friends only? Nobody else deserves it? Interesting!

I don't particularly believe a word the Daily Mail says so we will see. I think the presenters are working.

No matter who the new presenters were some people would be unhappy. You can never please everyone.

As far as I am concerned, we are not "waiting for them to bed in" as they already have. Also, with regard to them being funny, surely the jokes/skits are scripted as they were when Tess and Claudia presented? So that's not on the presenters.

Anyway the important thing for me, and many others, is the dancing not the presenters. They are just pretty minor to me. If I were really unhappy with them I would record the show and fast forward through their bits

Tinydanceer · 25/10/2026 15:35

I think it’s very odd to say you can’t have an opinion on a tv presenter because to do so wouldn’t be kind and you must be kind to the tv presenter

I don’t know how you’ve extrapolated to the last bit about kindness when nothing of the sort has been said

yes agree to disagree

It’s not about just having an opinion is it though? It’s the months of excessive negativity and doom that’s have surrounded the new presenters and, which has been completely unnecessary, that’s is the point I have very clearly explained.

They definitely need to go then if this is them bedded in!

agree about daily mail but it’s quite a long article with lots of leaks about what’s been said from different levels of the organisation, makes me think some discussion is underway - it can’t all be guff

Claudia managed to make even the scripted jokes funny so I think it is down to who they have chosen to present.

It’s been 5 weeks 😂😂

I don’t see any doom and think people have been rather charitable and willing to give them a go

thought we were agreeing to disagree?

They need to go in your opinion which, of course, you are entitled to but not lots of people don't agree with you.

You obviously really liked Claudia. I thought she was ok but never really found the scripted joke funny - more like pathetic

Of course you can have an opinion on a tv presenter. There are quite a few I don't like but others do - Alison Hammond for one but, and not saying you have been rude, some of the comments especially about Josh have been nasty and unnecessary.

His voice, his height, his clothes all criticised. What difference do they make to how he presents?

Yes I’d like to see a clean sweep - although don’t mind if Emma stayed as the straight presenter with or without Johannes

I would have liked to see someone more high profile with gravitas and a seasoned entertainment show record who can do the job from day 1 holding the reins

not particularly with Claudia - I think she was the benchmark though and made the best of it

on the agreement - of course there are a variety of opinions - I’ve not really seen any reviews celebrating them though so it’s clear it’s not a outright winner so far

his voice definitely makes a difference - I’ve seen people finding his cackling annoying and using his voice to Interrupt/interject at times which is jarring and stops the flow and being able to hear everyone - legitimate complaints imv for a presenter role

I’m not so worried as you about the alleged comments of clothes/height as he spends a lot of his career being self deprecating and taking the piss out of others regularly - he used to be very disparaging about the strictly “Zumba” crowd of “old women” himself which is why it’s so weird to see him wanting to be part of it

I could have more empathy with what your saying if they were doing a great job

No it’s not been 5 weeks it’s been months since they were announced and rumoured. Nobody is ever happy with anything and that’s the point.

And yes I do disagree with you and happy to do so, but I’ll correct you if you’re trying to manipulate my point and what I’m steer away from the fact that you’re trying to justify consistent, cruel comments because you’re not good friends with them 👍🏼

Yes, I completely agree with @autumngirl714 and @Mooselove

I have actually only just looked at this thread now, as I’ve found a lot of the negativity was spoiling my enjoyment. I said it on a previous thread, but I really enjoy Strictly and I don’t over-think it! I’m not on any other social media, so I’ve not actually seen any of the other moaning. I’ll just continue in my bubble of enjoying my Saturday & Sunday autumn evenings!

Thank you @EineReiseDurchDieZeit for continuing to run these threads. I’m just having a skim read through now.

I’m confused by the good friends analogy, it’s only mentioned by you, not me, and is very polarised..

I see lots of posts about tv shows people love so not sure where you get the world view people are never happy and only ever tear people down

no manipulation here just commenting on what I’ve seen experienced that seems different from you

autumngirl714 · 25/10/2026 16:39

just to clarify -

“they are presenters on a show for which we can have an opinion, not personal friends we have to support on a journey learning to be a presenter - we can say they aren’t good if they are not without worrying about their feelings”

Tinydanceer · 25/10/2026 16:49

just to clarify -

“they are presenters on a show for which we can have an opinion, not personal friends we have to support on a journey learning to be a presenter - we can say they aren’t good if they are not without worrying about their feelings”

Ah..that was an example to distinguish between who they are to us - we don’t know them - they are not personally known to us therefore do not benefit from our support because we will never meet them

I never said only good friends deserve kindness which is what you commented - that’s why I didn’t understand your analogy

MilkBreadToiletroll · 25/10/2026 16:59

This might be more a question for The Rest is Entertainment podcast, but if we take the story from The Daily Mail to be true, where do the BBC get their opinions from? Is it just from producers watching it, or focus groups, comments online, or a mixture of sources? Would love to know what influences these decisions.

Tinydanceer · 25/10/2026 17:04

I would think a mixture of sources…they must be tracking how they are being received by the viewers - or you would like to think so!

saveforthat · 25/10/2026 17:12

But they are terrible (well Emma is ok) so why give them a chance? This is not the new recruit in your office. T V presenters are very highly paid and I'm pretty sure there are plenty that would do a better job.

DointheDoo · 25/10/2026 17:16

I've watched Strictly religiously since 2011 (when my children were born) I have always enjoyed the show and I have enjoyed the new presenters up until last night's show. I felt like I was watching something very amateurish last night- it seemed like nearly every dancer made a mistake during their dance and the judges comments were very stilted. Johannes just kept asking everybody how they 'felt' dancing their dance but wasnt really listening to them. I didn't enjoy any of the dances at all. I didn't vote for anybody as I would usually.
Maybe I was just having a bad day yesterday but Strictly normally lifts me up however last night it made me a bit irritated 🤣
