He is paired with Liz White's DI Rose O'Connell, an Oxford-educated detective, in an odd-couple partnership set against Northumberland's coast and market towns.

Set against the sweeping Northumberland coastline and its surrounding market towns, The Northumbria Mysteries centres on an unlikely crime-solving duo.

8 episodes

Robson Green stars as Joe Ruby, a jack-of-all-trades whose life has been shaped by mistakes, regrets and missed opportunities, alongside Oxford-educated DI Rose O’Connell (Liz White), a rarefied intellectual, a deep thinker with a brilliant mind and an ice-cool disposition.

In a classic odd-couple pairing, Joe and Rose combine their talents as they frustrate, confound, and ultimately surprise one another while unravelling a series of compelling crime mysteries.

Tbh I was surprised to see this at the usual gentle 2pm slot on a Friday and not 9pm weekday

so not sure what this will be like

I do usually love the 2pm slot with previous shows like father brown and London city

Thank you. I used to like London City. Will give it a whirl.

I loved London city and sure it didn’t end

was hoping for a new series

Or was it London kills. Something like that. The detectives

Oh this sounds right up my street. Hopefully Vera type scenery.

Should be easy watching for a fri afternoon @TheBluebird

Nearly time for this. Next week. Saw a trailer. Hope it will be good for a fri 2pm

Starts today e1

Was ok. Didn’t love it didn’t hate it. Good cast. Just didn’t seem particularly believable. Yes I know these programs don’t, but this one especially didn’t imo. I’ll watch next week and see what I think.

I quite enjoyed it and will keep going. I keep seeing Robson Green as an evil serial killer though. I’m wondering if the monastery is going to be in it ongoing, I’m assuming so because of Simon Callow, I don’t really get the monastry. Good cast…

Yes
Simon Callow
Robson Green
Liz White
quite the cast.

A very good cast

surprised it’s on at 2pm and not 9pm

Very good cast for the afternoon. Might give a go after being traumatised by Time.
@Blondeshavemorefun It was London Kills and there were about 4 series. It was really good. But I think Hugo Speer got in a bit of trouble flashing his bits about on another set and has probably been cancelled.

I was watching mainly for RG and the Northumbria scenery.
It was a bit like Father Brown - easy watching cosy afternoon stuff.

Oddly, about 2/3 of the way through we could hear the background music but not the dialogue. We ended up downloading it again and it was fine.
