Winter is coming soon to ITV, and the new crime drama combines two of our favourite things – Richard Armitage looking steely and mysterious, with a compelling police procedural.

Described as a “captivating” new series, it positions fan favourite Richard in the leading role as Dr Ethan Winter.

He’s an “unconventional forensic pathologist whose brilliance, sharp intellect and rule-breaking approach helps the police solve some of the most complex murder cases”.

Yes, readers, he’s a maverick.

Even better, he has a deeply-buried secret that none of his colleagues know about… What more could you want from a crime drama?!

ITV’s Winter introduces Dr Ethan Winter, one of the most gifted pathologists of his generation.

He possesses an “extraordinary analytical mind”, which is capable of “impeccable deductive reasoning”.

Ethan uses his brilliant mind to help police solve some of the Bristol’s most complex murder cases.

His methods “perfectly complement” those of DI Lauren Bell. She’s a meticulous, no-nonsense detective who is as driven as Winter when working on a case.

Together they make a formidable team, as “Winter’s genius and insight into the victims is invaluable to Bell and her murder squad detectives”.

Yet viewers eventually discover that Winter is harbouring a secret…

The ITV synopsis tells us: “The unsolved murder of someone close to him still haunts his every move.

And he’s intent on unofficially investigating the death to bring the murderer to justice.

This personal thread runs beneath the six-part series, with each episode featuring its own compelling, self-contained crime story.”

Richard Armitage (https://www.tvguide.co.uk/articles/missing-you-richard-armitage-harlan-coben-collaborations/) stars as gifted pathologist Dr Ethan Winter in the cast of Winter on ITV.

Of course, the actor is known for his role in multiple Harlan Coben thrillers, as well as playing Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood, Daniel Miller in Berlin Storm, and Lucas North in Spooks.

Missing You star Richard Armitage: Why he keeps returning to Harlan Coben

The actor is about to play his fourth character straight out of a Harlan Coben suspense novel.

That was such a non story. It's getting more and more dire with every episode.

JaneJeffer · 15/10/2026 13:19

Is the dead fiancée story going to be wrapped up or will they drag it into another series? Not that I really care about any of it.

NewAgeNewMe · 15/10/2026 13:46

@Blondeshavemorefun 💐💐

So Ethan's a pathologist, a detective and a bit of a hypnotist ! Silly.

But I'm enjoying this, seems I'm in the minority though.

I don't think I could stand another series.
We're going to binge watch to get it over with.

I can't see it getting any better

I’m sensing you don’t like @RaraRachael - yet guy went to watch the end 😂

I do like this but I love murder thrillers

The description of it sounded promising but I'm finding it a bit ridiculous. I live in hope that it might improve.
I watch a lot of true crime and crime dramas but this isn't one of the better ones.

NewAgeNewMe · 15/10/2026 16:31

It’s actually growing on me. It’s obvious husband is having an affair, that I suspect a twist somewhere. So an affair with someone wife knows???

ApolloandDaphne · 15/10/2026 17:39

It's a bit morose but I am enjoying it nevertheless.

He lost the love of his life. Like I did when dh died

I get why he is how he is and why he talks to dead bodies to find the truth out for their family aka the living

it’s what /why he needs to find out what happened to Simone

Im sorry to hear that Flowers

Thank you

RaraRachael · 21/10/2026 17:18

I've watched all of it but will continue to comment as each episode is shown

LittlePinkWeed · 21/10/2026 21:41

Have we all given up on this? I forgot it was on and have only just switched on.

LittlePinkWeed · 21/10/2026 21:44

It's a man, not a woman?!

PrincessScarlett · 21/10/2026 22:00

2 weeks until next episode? I might have to binge. Sorry @Blondeshavemorefun

Fucking football!

PrincessScarlett · 21/10/2026 22:05

Dead Simone mentioned her documentaries may be why she was killed. Rosemary was in charge of a care home wasn't she? Now we just need to know if Jenson was linked. Or are they all random.

Alice's mum was annoying BUT I don't blame her at all for killing those two disgusting perverts. As said before, all the killers are not your normal killers. They are all damaged people. The abused wife, the abandoned daughter, the grieving mother.

moto748e · 21/10/2026 22:37

If the episodes are available to binge, can't you watch the next ep whilst the football is on, surely you can still watch an ep every week, am I missing something?

purpleme12 · 21/10/2026 22:44

Edited because got confused with which thread is which

RaraRachael · 21/10/2026 22:45

I thought this episode was completely ridiculous. I laughed out loud when superhero Ethan just happened to have diving gear in his car.

I've watched it all just to see if it improves.

Clawdy · 23/10/2026 11:45

Still really enjoying this.
