New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

James may have planted the burner phone and be trying to frame Tom and by making him take the blame. I don't like his attitude, the way he speaks to others makes me suspicious of him. But it could have been Kapil. Why did he hide in the bushes? I wonder if someone told him to keep an eye on Tom.

I've really started to like Lewis. He has been spending time investigating the case and I hope he is the one catches whoever is responsible- not Emma.

I hope it's not Tom. He has such a cute, innocent face.

And body. Blondes swoons

tho I’m old enough to be his mum

@CollaterlieSistersSister I like your theory tho he totally cleared Tom

surely if it was tech guy he would have framed Tom

OP posts:
burnoutbabe · 30/09/2026 20:18

I think it’s tech guy too (or Tom still based on the lady saying he was so nice)

How did Sophie get those pictures to print out? Maybe back to her father?

it being one of the 2-3 slimey cop’s wouldn’t really be an exciting end so I guess none of them.

For the pp who asked what they found in Tom's grandad's garden, it was a burner phone the same as Sophie had.

Have you seen 5&6

e5 is tonight so we haven’t seen that

i enjoyed this more than i should have. so many twists and turns right the way through with a very good redemption arc (i won’t spoil it).
but from a police procedural and case management point of view, it’s utter shit! DI’s do not go out on searches with big sticks, they don’t get to run the investigation where their partner is a suspect, they don’t get to go and have a chat in the cells, digital forensics are no where near DNA results and CCTV is never that good! so once i stopped shouting at the tele about those and many other examples of utter rubbish i still enjoyed trying to work it all out. it was particularly moving to see the messages being acknowledged as real ones from real, now ex officers.

i’m calling a series 2 being in the pipeline…

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2026 13:48

Oh you know it’s never gonna be correct but that’s half the fun

theres not correct in an artistic licence, allow the story to flow kind of way and so unrealistic there might as well have been a flying dragon 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2026 18:50

But still good as keeps us guessing who is the killer

e5 tonight

So who has it in for Tom

Looks like it's pointing to chief - I said the other week he's a well known actor and could be him

He knows there is a video. He's watched it and then said to his big boss the woman and denied it again 'standing up for his boys'

Glad woman chief knows something is up and said it will come out

Stupid that Emma called the phone number she got from the female shop lady (sorry bad with names) without hiding her number - should have added 141 to hide it

So who she rang now knows she knows as sure if a copper they will know /recognise her number

Callum needs to grow some balls and stand up to the other men. No point saying sorry to just Emma and Lewis. Means nothing

James didn't seems to mind giving the eim number so I don't think he brought/placed the phone and he's in the clear

Still shocks me he was in last tango to Halifax - he's def butched out a bit since he played a teen in it

Also suprised Lewis gave Callum the task of finding the buyer via cctv incase he found and ignored

but then he knew cheeky pete

Oh. Back to kapil. Wow. What a back stabbing partner to have - and think some said he was hiding in the bushes

Chief Walker didn't seem bothered with the pics Emma showed him and God he hates Tom

Tho he took the bait about the group chat
So looks bad and even if gets deleted im sure techs can find it

I make notes while watching so obv we know it wasn't James who got the phone by end of e5

And seems not chief if at marriage counselling
But god he hates Tom

But maybe due to ending he now believes it's not Tom and someone /one of his boys

Wonder why he suddenly believes and glad he gave her

The group chat messages 🙀🙀🙀🙀. And some of the things said via those texts were actually said by coppers - as it said that at the beginning

All bullying chat they said to kapil

Well done Lewis for calling them out but wow them all attacking him in the pub - hope he's ok

And Emma going to that house. By herself - so who is Neil Shergill

How did she work out to go there ?

Lewis is just brilliant. Loved the scene in the pub when he called them out on their behaviour. Hope he's ok 😬

Those messages were just awful. Really makes you wonder what sort of men are in the police. Obviously there have been the really bad ones like Sarah Everard's killer but this really doesn't do the police any favours at all.

Walker seems to be on the right side at last although it is still interesting how much he dislikes Tom. And Tom isn't exactly squeaky clean letting his partner get bullied like that. I still think it's Tom (despite the tech guy at the end). It was the look on his face as he stood by and did nothing. I believe he is the real predator hiding behind a whole load of bullies and misogynistic shits who are the perfect smoke screen for him.

burnoutbabe · 04/10/2026 22:08

She has gone to it tech man to ask for help.

now we can think oh he is the nasty rspist.bit also he seemed to be helping Sophie by telling her about the unreported rapes so she forks speak to those ladies. Which is twisted if he is the rapist and no one knew about them!

exciting one to go! I don’t think it can be either the 2 cops in the pub, repugnant though they are. Dad and coach seemed ruled out so either walker or it man or ex copper /tons old partner. Or Tom!

PrincessScarlett · 04/10/2026 22:11

@Blondeshavemorefun I don't think Kapil is back stabbing at all. Tom was complicit in the bullying. I wouldn't be surprised if Kapil has some sort of dirt on Tom if they were partners.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2026 22:37

Oh. It was tech man at the end. OMFG. I didn’t reliese it was him - wasn’t sure who he was

tho how did Emma know to go to him or she is going to him for help - not thinking /knowing possibly that he’s the killer

which we now know due to the girl walking up his path

true @PrincessScarletthe stood by the bullying. Yes he didn’t join. In but he didnt stop if either

tho framing him as the killer seems veryrevengful

wow. Someone said they thought it was tech guy

I did. Me and then a PP said her DH thought so too

burnoutbabe · 04/10/2026 22:47

The girl was walking up it man’s path as he contacted her to say he had seen the tape and could help her (and gave her the name of other women in same situation and pictures)

so he may be trying to be helpful? Why would he have a police radio (aka be the killer). Though rapist and killer may be different men/people.

I did say it man should be considered but his motives seem very muddled now.

PrincessScarlett · 04/10/2026 22:58

I think IT man is just helping to uncover what is going on at Wakestead. Being IT man he will have access to all sorts and can help Emma not only catch the killer but also bring down those horrible police officers. Surely they would go to prison for that video alone.

PrincessScarlett · 04/10/2026 23:00

@Blondeshavemorefun but planting the phone doesn't frame him as the killer. Emma, Lewis and Walker said as much. It was just an identical phone to Sophie's. I think it was planted to get people asking questions rather than frame Tom.

moto748e · 04/10/2026 23:03

The point was made about it only being done to get Tom on the TV news again. Tom was certainly a shit to stand by while all that vile bullying went on, though.
