New 6 episode drama on Sundays on itv

A police procedural fronted by Michelle Keegan and Douglas Booth, where they play detectives with a highly charged attraction to each other? Say less, ITV. We’re in.

This prime-time crime drama starts off in a depressingly predictable manner, when the body of a young woman is found in the small town of Wakestead, where DI Crane (Keegan) and DI Radley (Booth) work.

But as they work to uncover what happened to teenage figure skater Sophie Madsen, they discover “a tangled web of lies, institutional cover-ups, and moral compromise”.

the show will tackle the sadly very real misogyny that can be found in the UK police force.

The series also looks to have been influenced by the two Metropolitan police officers who took and shared photos (https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/dec/06/two-met-police-officers-jailed-photos-murdered-sisters-deniz-jaffer-jamie-lewis-nicole-smallman-bibaa-henry) “for their own amusement” from the murder scene of two Black women in 2020.

Keegan also looks like she’ll be turning whistleblower, turning her sexist colleagues against her in the process.

As the official synopsis says: “Crane must navigate both a murder investigation and the treacherous politics inside her own team.”

Alongside Keegan and Booth, you’ll also see Ian Hart, Nathan Mensah, Nigel Boyle, Joe Armstrong, Matilda Freeman, Gavin Spokes, Josh Bolt, Vikash Bhai and Ceallach Spellman all popping up.

What else do we know about The Blame?

The Blame is based on the 2023 book of the same name by Charlotte Langley, and is written, developed for television and executive produced by Megan Gallagher, who previously worked on All Her Faultand Wolf. Gallagher explained her rationale for creating the show, describing it as “such an important and urgent story to tell” right now.

ITV’s director of drama Polly Hill added: “The Blame is a brilliant new crime thriller full of surprising twists and a compelling investigation that also cleverly tackles police corruption, exploitation and misogyny as the thriller unravels…

This is going to be an unmissable drama and one I’m very proud to have on ITV.”

@Blondeshavemorefun but planting the phone doesn't frame him as the killer. Emma, Lewis and Walker said as much. It was just an identical phone to Sophie's. I think it was planted to get people asking questions rather than frame Tom.

True

Glad Walker decided fo back her - I do think he was repulsed by the video he watched

Just read that. But reading it did remind me of one thing; when Emma showed Lewis the photos in the car, and he said, was it just the two? And she surely lied so unconvincingly, and Lewis twigged that if he's any kind of detective.

Those messages!

Emma lied. This tells us that Walker is right and Tom has got into Emma's head. Tom is manipulating Emma. Tom knows that Emma lied for him in the past (Vogel) and this was a test to see if she will still lie for him.

Yes I got the impression that he was repulsed and embarrassed about 'his boys'. He's in a predicament now because he's just as much to blame for behaviour at Wakestead but realises it's gone too far and is trying to mitigate his part in it all.

I don’t think it’s tech guy …she’s going to him for help with that phone number to trace it.

Emma had 3 pics printed out but she only showed him two …why? Which pic did she not show?

She hid the picture of Amber Dodds. Vogel was framed by Emma (and Tom) for Amber's murder. The fact Sophie had a photo of Amber indicates Vogel didn't kill her, the police officer did.

This - so it’s not Tom …….

hes so repulsed by being framed /accused for amber that I don’t think it’s him

amber went to tech guy as he said he could help but we know she got killed so has to be him

Do you mean he's so repulsed by being accused of killing Sophie, not Amber? And Sophie was the one who went to tech guy, not Amber.

PrincessScarlett · 05/10/2026 13:56

Also, maybe Amber Dodds was Tom's first victim. He killed her for the sole purpose of framing Vogel. And then manipulated Emma into planting the evidence. Tom seems to have a huge dislike for Vogel and got very agitated when Emma suggested Vogel was innocent because Amber's photo was with the photos of the other 2 women. He practically lost it with Emma until she stopped questioning Vogel's guilt and hid the photo.
