Trailer for the new series just dropped - no transmission date yet though.

Anyone else excited to see how Nigella gets on as the new judge? A worthy successor to Pru and Mary, I think.

I’m a lawyer so will also bow to the courts but I think the test should have been - if someone said do you fancy a biscuit and they bring out a Jaffa cake you wouldn’t be surprised. But if they said do you fancy some cake I would be surprised (and a bit disappointed!) if they brought out a Jaffa cake!!

I'd feel the other way round. I'd be very annoyed if they thought a Jaffa Cake was actually a cake. Though I'd also be surprised if they thought it was an adequate substitute for a biscuit. Maybe Jaffa Cakes ought to have their own category?

Agreed. They are neither cake nor biscuit. Perhaps heading in the direction of bun?

I bake in advance and eat during! I like it to be on theme but also something that tests me a bit.

This week I’ve made “jam on toast” cookies as per TikTok fame. They are incredible, have actual toasty crispy bits, a jammy core and a good bit of salt nigella would appreciate!

Just googled and they sound/look really good! Enjoy...

Cake here, I had a go at a self portrait cake so we're tucking into that tonight. Mr GetSetFake said doubtfully "well you can see what it's meant to be..."

DD and I eat along too :)

Last week being ' cake ' we had our favourite which is red velvet from M&S.
we can proudly declare that one Spring we tried every supermarkets' red velvet, M&S is our favourite with the CO Op a very close 2nd.

Biscuits aren't something either of us would choose to eat, esp in an evening but in the spirit of the show ! we will be comparing M&S chocolate covered bourbons v ASDA's chocolate covered bourbons.
We know we like the M&S ones.

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:10

Biscuits. Old people. 🤣🤣

Does a dead goat trump a dead granny?

Burst when he said that!!

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:13

There’s a lot of grannies dead or alive in this episode

bungobungobungo · 29/09/2026 20:14

@GetSetFake Well there are more grannies than goats so probably yes!

Peachy2005 · 29/09/2026 20:14

Oh no - a dead nan who never got to go to Wimbledon 🥹

Thought poor dog was going to get hit with the backswing!

Does anyone else bake along with the show? I did chocolate cake last week and am doing shortbread this week

That is too ambitious for me but I do buy cakes to eat whilst watching the programme!

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:15

Jeez her husband looks like a serial killer

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:18

So they have practiced the cookies but some of them still can’t cook them 😧

PotterHead1985 · 29/09/2026 20:18

Aww so sweet them helping her. Such a 180 from that bitch with the baked Alaska all them years ago!!! Id still kill her to this day!

Peachy2005 · 29/09/2026 20:18

Thank goodness cookies are plural so are referred to as “they” not “she”

GetSetFake · 29/09/2026 20:19

Nigella dragging Paul into the 21st century for flavours. Telling him that miso is mainstream now. Brilliant.

Too much salt for Nigella!!

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:27

There doesn’t seem to be a great cookie yet

jay55 · 29/09/2026 20:28

I’m not keen on this challenge, I only think very plain biscuits should be decorated.

mumofoneisonozempic · 29/09/2026 20:29

👋

Place marking, will watch after the England match

littlbrowndog · 29/09/2026 20:29

Yes it should be more about the flavour and texture than masses of stuff on top!
