I am. It is very informative and thought provoking.

BigWig78 · Yesterday 20:41

I will find it on catch up. Sounds interesting for sure!!!

PurpleFlower1983 · Yesterday 20:44

We have it recorded.

minilegofigure · Yesterday 20:45

I’m watching it and finding it quite frustrating. I agree over use of screens is an issue but ADHD is not just a lack of movement and screens. It’s impulsive behaviour that can make children’s lives extremely difficult.
this programme is one point of view and not at all balanced.

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · Yesterday 20:45

I’d like to watch this, what’s it on?

Nn9011 · Yesterday 20:45

No, it's a shameful money grab that is spreading misinformation and will continue the harm to people with ADHD that the mainstream media has been continuing.

Seagulldancing · Yesterday 20:49

Half my household is on adhd medication and it hasn't changed any ones personality. Im finding this show very odd.

It's on Channel 4. It started at 8.

It seems biased against anyone getting an ADHD diagnosis.

RecycleMy · Yesterday 20:51

Smacks of propaganda.

What's a shameful money grab? the programme? I'd think the companies that do private assessments are the money grabbers!

DecisionTime123 · Yesterday 20:58

I'll have to watch on catch up; was it only aimed at children and YP diagnoses or did it look at adults too?

BatchCookBabe · Yesterday 20:59

Recording it now as I am watching something else. Will watch later. Or tomorrow.

I am guessing it will be interesting.......... Wink

Rollercoaster1920 · Yesterday 21:00

Channel 4 champions inclusivity so surprised to hear people find it against ADHD people.

Ilikealltings · Yesterday 21:01

Would have liked to. Someone spoke all over it?

MiceSpiders · Yesterday 21:02

I've limited DS' screen time from a very young age he still doesn't get to use a small screen for anything other than times tables rock stars homework, he has AuDHD , it affects every day of his life. DH had been diagnosed with ADHD and during autistic traits, he's deciding if an autism diagnosis is worth pursuing as an adult. Programmes like this feed into a false narrative that neurodivergence is about poor parenting and modern life

SweetBaklava · Yesterday 21:03

Lots of thought provoking points, but completely biased.

I know absolutely nothing about the programme but would put money on this being absolutely the case.

Well, I find myself agreeing that the school system is the bigger problem for kids!

I don't know what the answer is, but medicating to get this lad through school seems wrong and so sad when it's clearly not what he or his family want.

It’s so much more complex than this programme suggests. I do agree that school curriculum has lost creativity and in trying to raise standards in literacy and maths, has lost problem solving , independent thinking and a broader education.
However it’s way too simple to say stop diagnosing children. A diagnosis creates understanding and awareness which make children more able to mange behaviours in time. No diagnosis means possibly being labelled disruptive, naughty which might mean they miss out on an education.
I thought we had moved past this!. Brains aren’t physically different but it’s obvious that people respond to the world around them differently.

notnowbernadette · Yesterday 21:07

The only area where this programme probably has a point is that the school curriculum is set up to fail a large minority of young people. Whilst some people will benefit from life long medication some just need it to manage in our schools with a dry curriculum that has cut out a lot of creative subjects and subjects pupils to far too many exams.

I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was eleven, we didn’t even have a TV and smart phones didn’t exist. I did a lot of sport in and out of school, lots of mountain biking etc. So I’m quite impressed that all I needed was minus screens and too much exercise.

Lack of movement is quite funny, how often do you see someone with ADHD not move!

Fuckmyliferightnow · Yesterday 21:09

I didn’t have screens in the 80’s and I was highly active, always out on the park and or building dens, I was a classic disruptive child in school (labelled as naughty) and have suffered ever since, it has affected my life and career negatively. I haven’t watched it, just responding to PPs.

oldFoolMe · Yesterday 21:11

Need to watch this but interestingly my adhd daughter cannot still long enough to concentrate on a screen, she needs a physical outlet. I used to look at kids on their screens and think i wish mine still and watch a screen sometimes.
