Just saw a trail for Sleb Masterchef - it's back on the 18th August, at 9pm, with Giorgio Locatelli joining Grace Dent. Chuffians assemble!

The BBC are desperate to attract a younger audience so it’s very noticeable that in the last couple of series the guests setting the challenges have been young tick-tockers, content creators etc, who've travelled the world™️ and brought back 'my own take' on the food they encountered there…

I’m not sure the young persons are that interested in the BBC though.

lettingthedaysgoby · 21/08/2026 20:45

There's lots of interesting food people on the socials - as well as Seema, Ravneet Gill and Poppy O'Toole I follow Melissa Thompson, Sarah Frankland and Sian Almond

This is their big problem!
(ETA - and the Young Folk are probably unlikely to be watching MC anyway)

Masterchef Australia have done the same thing.

tick tock instagram. Chefs

its the way people are getting their recipes.

seema is a great chef

I am young still in my twenties but love hanging out with you guys as you are so knowledgeable and FUN

Fransgran · 21/08/2026 20:50

The very sight of that tart could bring on diabetes

ilovesooty · 21/08/2026 20:50

Bye bye Jason.

The BBC News website often features short cookery video reels and I do like them. I may need to drag my old self over to Insta or TikTok.

ilovesooty · 21/08/2026 20:52

"Don't start" 😂

Sunbird24 · 21/08/2026 20:52

State of Joe’s apron! 😂

SwedishEdith · 21/08/2026 20:52

I'd like to see her butter chicken recipe. I do the Mowgli/Nisha Katona one and it's easy and delicious. Would interested to compare.

ilovesooty · 21/08/2026 20:53

I like Giorgio referring to the previous round.

viques · 21/08/2026 20:53

I am on 4% so back online. If they don’t send Jason home someone will be finding themselves on the wrong end of my artisan cheese grater.

Those plates looked great apart from the cabbages which looked as though a five year old had tried to put a pillow in a shrek pillow case.

Am warming to Jo Pasquale. I must be getting benign in my old age.

Halsall · 21/08/2026 20:55

My problem is that I don’t have enough hours in the day to follow loads of people on various platforms - I'm not opposed to it, I'm just time-poor!

It really needs to be Jason. I never thought I would be supporting Joe over him.

Fransgran · 21/08/2026 20:55

Well done the girls!

littlbrowndog · 21/08/2026 20:55

I think having a tick-tocker who spoke with confidence and had great recipes is a good thing for the bbc

TheDogsMother · 21/08/2026 20:56

Correct choice 👏

littlbrowndog · 21/08/2026 20:56

Bye Jason

ilovesooty · 21/08/2026 20:56

"You are a very distinctive cook". I don't think that was a compliment.

Hahahaha! You're safe from having to mete out that terrible punishment, @viques

Jason not endearing himself to me there....

I know how you feel, it is so counter intuitive. The girls were miles ahead though, and not much to choose between them. Fight fight fight!

TheDogsMother · 21/08/2026 20:58

I had a sneak peak at next week’s hopefuls. Not a clue who any of them are.
