can a remake with different actors be as good and funny as the original

Miranda a 1920’s socialite

The US one was a bit rubbish. The ghosts were obsessed with having sex with each other. Not really fun family viewing like the UK version.

Oh, thanks for the heads up. I didn't realise they made an Australian verson. Loved the UK show, wasn't keen on the American one but will give this one a go.

I like the US version. Flower in particular.

Currently watching the US one, it is pants. Not a patch on the original. Aus has got to be better!

I quite like the US one - I like Sass and Issac. It’s no where near as good as the original one of course but it has its own story lines after the first few episodes.

Had to laugh that Trevor didn't lose his trousers for quite the same reason as Julian.

Just looked at Imdb & apparently there's a German version as well!

similar - Issac is the repressed military man, Hetty is Lady Button, Trevor is Julian with no trousers. Pete is pretty much exactly the same. Robin/mary/kitty/humphrey aren’t as directly replaced I don’t think (there is a Viking, a Native American, a jazz singer and a hippy). There are basement ghosts and a couple of amusing other ones too - one similar to Humphrey’s body.

the universe is wider - there are more peripheral ghosts, some of which are semi regular characters and like a pp said, they are forever having sex.

I started rewatching the US one last night.

Starts tonight

1st episode was weird watching as so used to UK version

bir now on 2nd and growing on me with the different characters

It's OK so far. Disappointed that there's no Pat equivalent like there is in the US one.

Maybe I just didn't "get" the characters.

I only liked Kate & thought the whole thing seemed pretty badly acted.

Well dd made me binge. I won’t spoil of course but we’ve found it grew on us and there were quite a few laughs out loud bits. We decided we liked that the ghosts were a bit different to the original

I think I missed there being Fanny type character.

I watched it all too. I like it. I like that they have gone for Aussie ghosts, apparently they didn't include an Aboriginal / First Nations ghost out of respect for indigenous culture(s).

I have just found out there is a French and Greek version. I knew about the German one.

The US one grew on me, maybe because I knew it was the only game in town. Not a patch on the original but likeable and different historical characters. I was wondering whether the First Nations omission was because of something about representing the dead and respecting First Nation culture. I'm looking forward to this. I'd like to watch the German one. It's interesting to see how different countries approach their own history.
