Yay this has landed on Netflix. It's my guilty pleasure.

These women are so freaking athletic & skilled. And yet so JUDGED.

But I cannot look away. Also as an Australian I can't get over the use of the AC/DC song 'Thunderstruck'. I saw that live in Melbourne many moons ago. Ah, memories.

Anyone else watching?

Yes it’s been my binge watch while painting and cleaning this week. They’re so talented and strong.

snowymarbles · 02/07/2026 05:35

Having watched series 1 and 2 this was a bit samey for me. I will say Reece has grown on me - I found her a little too sickly sweet in the first series.

It’s good they get paid better amounts now I was shocked when I heard how little it was originally, they are skilled athletes.

Blushingm · 02/07/2026 06:41

Watched it all already!!!

Already? 😆

I bow to you!

I need to pace myself.

I think it's the weakest of the 3 seasons, there was no breakout star of the season or any real drama. Also, all this weird validation that the dancers want from Kelly and Judy and needing them to tell them that they love them all the time. So forced and fake, is that an American thing?

Dustyblue · 02/07/2026 07:23

Yeah, so far I'm finding it a little boring. But I'll push on, it might get better.

Kelly & Judy might need to retire, but some people just can't let go.

Like AC/DC. Behold "Thunderstruck" in Melbourne last year, the poor buggers look like they're about to fall off the stage.

I thought it was quite a dull series compared to the others.

Hmm, ok. I guess there's only so far you can go with this.

I do hope they're being paid a lot more money than they were.

It was so boring, I gave up on it but did watch most of it. Too much wittering on about social media. They should have all followed the example of the girl who said she uninstalled TikTok/insta as she didn't need the stress, but of course they want the attention...

It is one of my life goals to go watch them!

KatiaMonsterTruckDriver · 02/07/2026 08:09

It’s my guilty binge watch too. I’ve injured my back so have started watching Making the Team on Channel 5 from my highly athletic position of lying on the floor like a stranded whale.

It’s all highly problematic from a feminist perspective, and yet the dancing style, athleticism and determination of these women is mesmerising. I also really like watching a group of women who encourage and support each other. Delighted that they fought for, and won decent pay for all their hard work (although would love to know how their pay compares to that of the players).

In making the team yesterday I found out they have to learn 50 different dances to perform on the sidelines, as well as Thunderstruck and all the additional special performances. That’s impressive.

UsernameHoarder · 02/07/2026 08:16

Too few rookies for there to be any really interesting stuff.

And formulaic already. I like seeing more of the uniform and boot fittings type of footage. The real behind the scenes stuff.

But, I'm in total awe of their athleticism.

I liked cheer too, but that went really wrong for a lot of them in the end, so I dont think we will ever get another series of that.

MinnieCauldwell · 02/07/2026 08:16

I think it's had its day now. Maybe give it a rest and come back with a 'new' Kelly and Judy. I do love seeing them do Thunder, it's a very long routine.

I do wonder about Reece, an extremely talented young woman with the whole world at her feet...going back to Alabama to probably be a Trad Wife in some small town. Her choice I hope.

Blushingm · 02/07/2026 13:12

I preferred DCC making the team - I know it’s mean but I liked they were harsh. Now they’re afraid to offend

BusterGroove · 02/07/2026 17:56

I think I’ve watched most of the previous seasons of making the team and both of the previous Netflix ones, but I thought this was really dull. The auditions aren’t that interesting as they are all pre-picked so there not much tension. We also didn’t see any nerves around the first jump split or anything.

StartupRepair · 04/07/2026 12:46

Making the team was a guilty pleasure that got me through a post surgery convalescence.
I enjoyed Netflix season 3 but deeply disliked Faith. Loved how Kelli took her to task in the last episode. Reece is very sweet. I do love Kelli and Judy and get so immersed in the problematic world they reign over.

Livingthebestlife · 04/07/2026 21:13

Just finished it. Was ok, the other seasons were better, I personally think there was too much family stuff and so much waffle. Didn't show much of the training or dances. Love watching thunder think it was showed with music once maybe twice. It was very much social media orientated which is good to let people know the shit abuse the girls receive but it seemed every episode really focused on this.

Dustyblue · 05/07/2026 02:15

I'm confused. I thought Jada retired at the end of S2 of the Netflix series but she's back in S3. And Reece is a rookie in S3. What have I missed?

OP posts:
Dustyblue · 05/07/2026 06:11

Ignore me, I'm an idiot. Just realized I started watching S1 which I'd never seen before. No wonder I was confused. On to S3 now!
