Rivals season 2 ***SPOILERS***

Has anyone seen season 2 yet?
I’ve just binge watched it and want to discuss it. Or at least have a rant.

WTAF. Monica is dead?? She was the best part of this!
There have been lots of little changes throughout from the books, annoying but there we go, but then this big motherfucker of a change?
Do we assume that Rupe is doing what Monica asked him to do and in actual fact she’s ok? They built up the potential of a relationship between her and Enid so well throughout this season, which I’ve loved.
So I’m not accepting it.
Anyone else?

Apart from this I’ve really loved this. Some characters have taken some getting used to - Rupert and Taggie are not like they are on the book at all. Maud is excellent. I hate David Tennant as Tony Baddingham, but not up to me and it didn’t stop me watching!

I ADORE David Tennant in everything, even as a baddie.

My biggest hate of the series is Sarah’s skin-crawling hubby.

I agree it’s a huge shame that Monica is dead as would have been fab if her romance developed, but yes she’s confirmed dead (by the producers) and the next season teasers have shown the funeral. But - maybe is a dastardly ruse?

I really fucking hate Maud. Absolute bastard.

I hate Maud as well. Selfish, vain, nasty grifter. She was horrible in the book as well.

However, in Jilly Cooper’s world, beautiful women got away with being total cunts with no comeuppance at all. Think Chessington France-Lynch.

I hate Maud as well, but the portrayal is excellent!

Victoria Smurfit is an absolutely stunning woman but that wig does her zero favours.

Monica dead is a real missed opportunuty for her to finally triumph over her husband, especially after that brilliant kitchen table scene with the writer woman. More women triumphing than sex scenes would be my preference

I didn’t realise until the Sat morning after episode 6. It was already killing me waiting a week for each episode!
