Anyone finished s5 of For All Mankind and started watching Star City yet?

No, I’d not realised s5 was out so thanks for the heads up on that! (I find it hard to keep track of series across the different platforms).

I haven't watched For All Mankind and starting watching Star City as it was promoted as a new series by Apple.

Amazing cast, and very convincing.

And story line clear enough from the beginning to make it a stand alone series.

(I think it is a parallel story line rather than a continuation)

I wonder if I should start a new thread to alert those who haven't bothered with For All Mankind might want to watch this?

Hmm

It might be interesting to watch the two series in parallel?

I've not seen For All Mankind but have been watching Star City and I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely fine to watch as a stand alone series. Really enjoying the attention to Soviet era detail. Loved the 'bone records' and that sent me down a rabbit hole of googling along with distant memories of plastic floppy 45s in cereal packets back in the day. Last episode of this series is up tomorrow. I suspect they are hoping for another series.

Started Star City before For All Mankind. Love it, so well done, though I do find the Anna Maxwell Martin character a bit of a pantomime villain.
And how gorgeous is Rhys Ifans? He’s really improved with age!

So we decided to watch FAM as well and it starts brilliantly, and the wardrobe and sets are stunning but in series 2 it’s starting to become a bit of a soap opera. Just watched a dreary interminable scene where the Joel Kinnamen character doesn’t want his daughter to go to Naval college so is being a colossal dick. So tedious and unimportant to the plot.

I meant to come back and say I had finished watching Star City and thought it really well done.

And certainly a stand alone series.

My regret is that I should have waited and then binged watched. I think I missed out on the full impact of the plot development and different characters by watching it week by week.

In fact I liked it so much I decided not to watch for all Mankind as doubted it could match this!
