Looks like the old thread is ending and I had a Jannik-panic Grin.

I don't think he even noticed he just lost the set Grin

I see that Dan lost in the 1st round of qualifying to a French bloke born 3 years after Dan turned pro and ranked over 1200 places lower Blush
Why he's still bothering is beyond me! Has he picked up a racquet much in the past 6 months? He's got a few points to defend from the grass court season, so it's only going to get worse! Poor Dan Grin

Oh dear! I can't wrap my head around how young some of the players are. I was wondering about Dan this morning actually- I think I was reminded of his 'Brummie Borg' period .Grin

Stef is in action against GMP in Geneva. He will really be wanting to pick up some points over the next few weeks. He's currently ranked 80.That's really not where he wants to be.

Well done to Stan Bear who won his first match on in Geneva- nice for him to win on home soil on his farewell tour.

Yes. Saw the last couple of shots. Gael and Elina were watching. Didn't look that warm!

Raahh · 19/05/2026 13:46

Casper is back in action this afternoon in Geneva, hopefully he will do ok .

Grigor is in action in his first round of RG qualifying. David Goffin was in tears when he got through yesterday.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/05/2026 14:00

I saw the pictures of Goffin Raahh - he was very emotional

Grigor is now 4 all in the 3rd set of his qualifying match - eek - come on Grigor!

It’s absolutely freezing here today but think it’s going to be scorchio at the weekend !

IceandIndigo · 19/05/2026 14:08

It's kind of confronting to see Grigor grinding in qualifying. It's not that long since he was 2 sets up on Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon.

Raahh · 19/05/2026 14:27

It's not gone well for GrigorSad

Casper will be starting soon- just as I need to go out, which is typical.

OP posts:
IceandIndigo · 19/05/2026 15:05

I feel sad for Grigor. His ranking has plummeted and he's not quite at the level of CV where he's going to get a lot of wild cards to the big tournaments. It might be the beginning of the end for him.

Fizzywinegum · 19/05/2026 15:11

Poor Grigor Sad - at least he got a cake (small comfort)

Raahh · 19/05/2026 15:53

Come on Casper! When I looked earlier, he appeared to be racing through the first set. Brooksby must have pulled a few games back.

And now it's level in the second set. This is exactl the sort of match he ends up losing.

Carlos has pulled out of Wimbledon and the rest of grass season. Very disappointing for him, and for tennis.

kazzaD66 · 19/05/2026 16:00

Yes ice I've just seen that. Not good for Carlos and not good for tennis in general. And it leaves the door open for a certain Serb at Wimbledon!!!

I still don't understand Casper's rationale for playing this week, given his run last week Raahh Confused

Raahh · 19/05/2026 16:07

Serving for the match now.

Come on Casper!

No- I don't understand why he's playing kazza- unless he didn't want to let anyone down (and he couldn't claim injury or 'fatigue' with a clear conscience for withdrawing).

OP posts:
Raahh · 19/05/2026 16:10

And it's very Sad for Carlos - and tennis- that he's had to withdraw. There are very few grass players around these days - and it really does give Djok a massive chance.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 19/05/2026 16:11

Oh no Sad - hope that Carlos will be back soon but it’s good that he’s giving himself time to recover fully (looking for the positives)

Raahh · 19/05/2026 16:12

Casper is possibly also making the most of his clay opportunities, since his chances on grass are slim.

OP posts:
ChessieFL · 19/05/2026 16:15

That’s really disappointing about Carlos - for him and us.

Raahh · 19/05/2026 16:18

Fizzy it's definitely a good sign (I think- choosing to look at it that way, anyway)- that he's not rushing back. Recovery needs to com before chasing titles. He's won a lot already- and he's young enough to win a lot more, if he recovers properly.

Alternatively, he could come back too soon and end up de-railing his entire career- and we've seen that happen before.

Although it's getting dull to see Jannik win everything at the moment, if it's him or Djok at Wimbledon- then ABD, every time.

Was so looking forward to watching him play…

Raahh · 19/05/2026 16:23

Justin Engel is playing Ugo Humbert- it's always funny to see Humbert without a hat, he looks really young.

I remember Engel from last year, he did pretty well. Still only 18.

OP posts:
IceandIndigo · 19/05/2026 16:38

Fizzy, it's good that he's taking time to recover properly, the wrist takes so much strain in tennis. It's not really clear what the injury is and I just really hope it's something he can make a full recovery from, he's so young.
