"Let the song begin with passion, Let the wind begin to blow, You can break the rules of fashion, And your chance to win shall grow."

"Look into the TV camera, So the audience can see, That you're loveable, not desperate, Smile and they will vote for me."

Well we haven't got old women baking bread or a man in a hamster wheel. The only way we have a burning piano is if the Serbian's set fire to the set (again) and torch Delta's piano. And sadly there is no Russian skater as they are currently still banned.

There WILL however be snow, lots of fire, wind machines, stage risers, much leather, women dressed in white, silly costumes and dances, dodgy moustaches, songs about love and peace, traditional folk instruments and violins. Many violins.

In the meantime to keep you entertained whilst you wait, here's a Eurovision treat.

A boyband as you've never seen before (lyrics nsfw):
TOMMY, KÄÄRIJÄ AND JOOST - I MISS US

"I was so green, I was so blue, I tried the best that I could do".

Also.

Do you love Rim Tim Tagi Dim?

Well here's this year's Moldova entry Satoshi arguably doing it better than Baby Lasagna.

Every year DH & I say we’re not going to watch then we always do. It’s strange that the UK entry hasn’t been played much (or at least I haven’t heard it much) as last year’s was everywhere! I don’t think we’ll do very well.

Where’s Finland?! I remember the cha cha cha song with the centipede.

RedToothBrush · 15/05/2026 10:11

And finally (sorry for spamming)
Greece's Akylas covers Rise Like a Phoenix

All these covers are good and show how good the artists and the original songs are.

Enjoy!

I don’t think it’s strange you aren’t hearing much about it this year. Vast numbers of people won’t be watching this year.

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 15/05/2026 10:14

Uk song is awful. Will it appeal to Europe?

RedToothBrush · 15/05/2026 10:18

The UK's entry was essentially our reserve entry (subbed in at the last minute). He didn't take part in the pre-party tour (which I think is a massive mistake).

However in his partner has just had a baby, so I'm not going to begrudge him.

Thanks for the thread! Looking forward to Saturday (even if it’s not a vintage year).

RosaMoline · 16/05/2026 10:14

I’m genuinely gutted because for the first time in YEARS I’m going to miss the Eurovision final tonight 😭
I do have a good excuse though — I’m off to a friend’s 60th birthday party, which I am actually really looking forward to. My friends all know how ridiculously obsessed I am with Eurovision, so I’ve even had a t-shirt printed saying “Missing the Eurovision Final For This” which they’ll find hilarious 😂
I watched both semis and have very mixed feelings this year. I absolutely loved Bulgaria and Norway, and I’m also obsessed with Croatia’s pagan witchy entry. I always end up loving those sorts of performances anyway as a bit of a witchy woman myself — I just love the drama of them 😂
I was really rooting for Cyprus too, but those vocals in the semi were… not great, and I think that’s probably killed their chances now unfortunately.
I honestly think Australia could win it. I’m half tempted to put a bet on them. Feels a bit like last year when everyone was convinced Sweden had it in the bag and then Austria came through as the second favourite.
I absolutely cannot stand the Greek entry this year 😬 I know some people love it but I just think it’s awful. And I don’t rate ours either, so fully expecting us to be loitering near the bottom of the scoreboard yet again.
Tonight I’ll be desperately trying to avoid spoilers because I’m hoping to watch it tomorrow… although I do have a gentleman caller coming round 😉 so if that gets in the way then I may not get to watch it until Monday evening. Which means two whole days of avoiding the internet and the news. Pray for me.

RosaMoline · 16/05/2026 10:15

Oh and Michael, one of the presenters really reminds me of Antoine De Caunes (Eurotrash)

CypressGrove · 16/05/2026 12:11

I actually quite like the UK entry but the live performance in semi 2 was a bit awkward I thought. Still plan to send some votes his way if I manage to get up at 5am to watch the live performance. Otherwise I'll have to avoid all media until the replay at a more civilised time - its a pain being on the other side of the world.

If you are in rest of the world you can vote for him now.

Place-marking for tonight!

It's not a great year song-wise, in my opinion, but I'm still looking forward to the show.

PrincessScarlett · 16/05/2026 15:19

The UK entry has grown on me. I think it's catchy and very Eurovision which I think is lacking in a lot of the other entries.

Thanks for the covers @RedToothBrush Rise Like a Phoenix and Tattoo are absolute favourites of mine.

PrincessScarlett · 16/05/2026 15:31

Also think Delta has a fantastic chance of winning. Wonder if the other countries fancy a trip to Australia next year. Although scheduling would be an absolute nightmare.
