Here we are continuing to watch, chat about and admire Race Across The World 2026, Sicily to Mongolia. Everyone welcome!

I'm sorry I've had to start this probably a little early as I'm not watching live tonight (got home very late from work).

Just found a lot of it a bit bleak . Lots of desert.

Only at the end in Mongolia though, surely?
The scenery in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan was amazing also Turkey and parts of Greece.

The scenery has been stunning. Arguably a bit samey compared to South America but stunning. My big eye opener was Tblisi.

Can someone explain for me - apologies if this is covered earlier in a thread. I am watching catch up on iplayer. End of one episode they all arrived in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Beginning of next episode they are already somewhere remote in Mongolia. What happened between? There didn’t seem to be any explanation given for the jump, was there something on the broadcast version that I’m missing on iplayer?

They are not allowed to film in China so they flew to Mongolia and started the next leg in order from there.

This series is turning out to be one of my favourites, amazing scenery, likeable contestants, but I do tend to favour Katie, she cracks me up with her comments to Harrison.

I have to admire everyone tucking into the UMBs (unidentified meaty bits) - as a vegetarian I would have been a skeleton by the roadside by now.

I know, I always think I'd probably have to survive on bread!

I know it's polite to eat whatever your hosts offer you but I could not eat any of those innards or eyes or testicles or whatever.

I presume you'd have to sign something to say that you would partake in whatever you were offered (to a certain extent). Perhaps if you were veggie/(didn't want to - me!), you would not stay in homestays?

I’d tell them I was vegetarian either way! 😜

RaraRachael · Yesterday 11:23

@Itsahardknocklifeforus I'd have to say I was a vegetarian too!

I asked Margo if she would pop over from facebook to chat to us. She said 'I dare not!' but 'Say hello to everyone over there on Mumsnet'

One of the few series of race across the world where I actually have no preferences on who wins, they all have their merits and they all have their faults, I think it’s one where a number of them will genuinely have benefited from the experience. On a purely practical level, the two boys have the time advantage but dad and daughter have the money advantage, as for Mongolia, seems everyone is a taxi driver even if they say they are not
