Such a great story but the last version I tried to watch was unwatchable. Maybe that was channel 5. Might give this one a look. Any good so far @IwantToRetire ?

This was released as a movie last year - saw it in the cinema. They must have chopped it into four parts for the series.
I enjoyed it a lot, although they cut out Villefort’s father and there’s no Luigi Vampa ..

Sorry - haven't watched it! I always tape to watch later when quiet.

And have 2 episodes of some other series to finish.

But thought others might be interested.

Hadn't realised it was a film cut into 4!

So I've watch 2 episodes and yes it is beautiful to look at but something about the style makes it seem a bit soft focused and not as gripping as the story line should make it.

I have never read the book so not sure how good the adapation is, but did see a film version some years ago, which was much grimmer and violent.

But quite soothing escapism.

But maybe the last 2 episodes will be a bit more hard hitting.

(Not sure about films in France but wonder if they were aiming at having it rated as a child or young teen category.)

@IwantToRetire I thought the same. I only watched a bit but all that snogging was tedious., I think it's not aimed at me either! 😅

Read the book! It’s a blast!

I might see if there is an audio book version. I am sure there will be.

I did finish watching the series, I think I maybe nodded off at times.

It was all very lush, and more like an ad for some sort of product that beautiful people aspire to or something.

So sort of took the grimness of the story line away.
