She offered him a watch saying it had been Nigel’s and had sentimental value. For some bizarre reason the gangster turned all mushy (don’t think he had known Nigel!) and accepted the watch in lieu of the item Sam had pinched from him. Then Sam later revealed to her brothers that she done some sort of swap with Billy (?) and the watch she handed over hadn’t been Nigel’s. So the Mitchells still have Nigel’s watch as a keepsake.

What the heck??
that was worse than I expected, why would a gangster owed £200k be interested in a dead man’s watch!

@HighburyHope for explaining that. What was the point of Mark being beaten to a pulp so the grandad gangster could go mushy. Terrible plot lines!

Why was Max and Cindy in the second row at the church they had nothing to do with Nigel.

The watch was to repay Sam stealing the necklace. He told Grant he wanted his money by midnight

I did wonder why Josh was there.

Also, Claire and Julie were all friendly again after they couldn't even look at each other last time they were together?!?

Clare just looks like a Thunderbird puppet to me. I think it’s her hair that seems like it doesn’t move.
I can’t remember why she ripped off Ian , but they have history it seems.

Julie has a forgiving nature I suppose.
Nigel did love Clare.

Ross Kemp was terrible in today’s episode.

@HighburyHope thank you for explaining. The gangster nonsense never makes any sense. I think I would have had more patience with it if it hadn't involved Mark, who is just a waste of airtime.

I couldn't remember Claire and Ian having history either, 80s. I agree there is something odd and stiff about her, I feel uncomfortable watching her.

Lauren playing with fire then! She must be mad to stay involved with Mark.
Funny how they all say they haven’t any spare cash, but all up the pub for drinks. Do any of them do a days work?

Chelsea is 40 ! She doesn’t look it at all.

They rarely work. I mean have you seen Priya sell a car yet? Actress playing her was in a jumper today, unlike her cropped/skimpy outfit so as pp said think she’s pregnant.

Priya didn’t look pregnant today. She wears a coat that is quite heavy looking. Maybe it’s that ?
It was probably filmed when it was colder as well.

Priya's coat yesterday was weird, she had it belted under her bosom and it looked too small for her, that is why she looked pregnant. I haven't seen today's yet.

I agree they never do any work, except when a single punter hoves into view and then three of them fight for him (and he leaves without buying!)

Grant wasn’t great today , but I think he’ll be leaving soon ish anyway. Mark could have said thanks for the money , he is an ungrateful so and so isn’t he.
Saved his bacon as well.

Grant was useless. He can go. Let Sam stay.

Sam going to Portugal with Grant I’ve read. What on earth is there in Portugal? She can’t work for Grant’s bar as that’s sold.

Mark would never thank Grant for the money as he hates him and feels it’s too little too late. Or too late.

I suppose she’s out of storylines as her cancer story has been done. She works really well with Denise, would be nice to see a good friendship there.

Oh I’m sure that Grant will just buy another bar in Portugal somewhere. He has a place over there which I assume he still owns and they never seem hard up.
They will probably return for the 50th anniversary ones or ( maybe ) if Phil dies or goes out of it or something like that happens in the meantime.
I wish Sam wouid stay , with Julie and Nigel gone and only Mark hanging around , I’m sure that Phil could do with the company to keep him sane.
Maybe they will let him have a new love interest or something like that , or just be the grumpy one hanging about the pub with an orange juice or getting mark out of trouble ( again )

The ones we like seem to move on don’t they :(

I suppose it’ll be Mark and the cars and Lauren , they are bound to have an affair eventually. Although she is with Pet ahh NYD , so no idea really.

They did the cancer one so poorly, sorry, was she even in hospital 😬

Agree and it could be good to have her support Denise through the leukemia - actually it would be one of the more organic pairings!
