The nearest beach is probably Southend, no?

Also hate how the Jasmine character seems to have had a 180 degree personality transplant in less than no time and is just smiling way too much! Her acting is way too ott and try hard and she just comes across as so fake. Unlikeable when a baddie and equally unlikeable when a goodie like now.

And, no way is Mo 90. Maximum I would say is 70!

Meredusoleil · 28/04/2026 21:39

Well I just googled and Laila Morse is actually 80 irl 😳

Shellingbynight · 28/04/2026 21:41

I agree re the speed of Nigel's discharge from hospital back to the care home, ridiculous. My mother was told shee was fit for discharge on a Thursday afternoon but had to wait till Monday morning for ambulance transport! I don't know why they had him going to hospital anyway, it didn't add anything. They could have shown the GP visiting the care home if they wanted to include a doctor.

@Meredusoleil I agree completely about Jasmine. Now she is constantly grinning and everyone's best friend and I still can't stand her! Why was she arranging a party for Mo who she's spoken about four words to.

cramptramp · 28/04/2026 21:52

Jasmine will show her true colours before long. But I wonder who she’ll target?

Shellingbynight · 28/04/2026 22:00

She’ll find out about Oscar and Josh and she won’t be all smiles then!

MadisonAvenue · 29/04/2026 02:59

And, no way is Mo 90. Maximum I would say is 70!

When you think about it her being 90 seems about right, after all she’s Kat’s Nan and Kat must be in her 50s,

I thought today’s episode was well done with the acting and writing. It was also extremely moving at the end 😢

Feels like a chapter of EE history has closed.

I thought the same. It was nice seeing Nigel as a little boy. It would’ve been nice to see a dad figure there too. But Phil was just as good.

Edited

I had no idea she was 80! I saw her with a friend outside my local Pets at Home putting shopping into her car about 2-3 years ago so she must live nearby. I didn’t dare say hello but she looked nice enough. Bell Green, Sydenham for the stalkers!

Shellingbynight · 29/04/2026 08:01

I think she looks 80 (sorry Laila!)
I haven't seen today's episode yet but I'm expecting it to be good.

Canipleaseask · 29/04/2026 08:03

Phil and Grant, Walfords T-birds since the 1990's

Yep and Linda is one of their Pink ladies !

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 09:27

It was always an unlikely friendship with Nigel and the Mitchells. A bit like hard as nails Shirley and Heather.

storminabuttercup · 29/04/2026 09:56

Think it’s a more believable one as they were friends from children. I liked what Sam said last week, something about Nigel lifting the mood in their home growing up.

know it’s plot reasons, but baffled me yesterday that Lauren and Peter were so upset Nigel had taken a turn for the worse they had to leave the party, obvs to find Cindy and max. Surely a better excuse would have been a headache, or they felt uncomfortable leaving Jimmy after a huge car accident

ambercoast · 28/04/2026 19:05

All I can see when Grant and Phil are in a scene together is their plether jackets, they're really distracting!

Yess!! There was a thing years ago with them as baked potatos in those jackets

cramptramp · 29/04/2026 10:19

Great episode today. Very moving.

I couldn’t see much, the tv was so blurry 😭

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 10:43

Goodbye Nigel .. such a lovely kind character.
One of EE’s better characters in fact. Was always a fan of his.
Julie deserves praise for keeping it real too.

Shellingbynight · 29/04/2026 10:57

Julie has definitely been a lot better since he went into the care home, I found her annoying before that. The actor who plays Nigel has been brilliant throughout, such a difficult part to play.

Yes I loved that comment from Sam. We saw in those 1970s flashback episodes how grim and oppressive the Mitchell’s house was with Eric’s violence etc so I can imagine Nigel’s gentle soul lifting them.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 11:29

I found Julie annoying too, but lately with Nigel she has been very good and very pragmatic about it all.
It’s horrible watching someone pass away, but his was peaceful.
I am pleased that Phil got there in time despite being a total pillock about it previously.
Keep skimming those stones Nigel.

storminabuttercup · 29/04/2026 11:57

Agree Nigel has been immense, it’s a tough watch and I’m guessing he’s been with someone at end of life as he got it just how I’d witnessed it at least

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 12:09

It was realistic as you sometimes don’t know if someone has passed or not at times ( I don’t mean to upset anyone on here , but it can be like that for some )
It was well done , but a tough watch!
At least Phil got back for him on time.

ambercoast · 29/04/2026 14:43

Beautifully written, perfect acting.
I was sobbing all the way through, that stone skimming on....

(I did laugh at Phil's face at the very end though sorry!)

murasaki · 29/04/2026 15:10

I may have got a bit misty eyed. It was well done.
