Welcome to the EastEnders spoilers thread, where we post and talk about any EE spoilers we've read about, including those in early release episodes on iPlayer.

Link below to watch episodes on BBC iPlayer - these are usually dropped at 6am on broadcast days - and you can read brief synopses of upcoming episodes:

@Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain in answer to your question at the end of the last thread, IIRC Michelle slept with Grant and then left for the US. She apparently didn’t realise she was pregnant until she’d moved there. I seem to remember Mark Snr (her brother) saying she met another man who she married and passed him off as Mark’s dad as she didn’t want Grant to know. Not that Mark or Vicky have ever mentioned their step-dad. Grant didn’t know he was Mark’s dad until a few years ago.

That was a very good episode. I’m glad we got plenty of Nigel and not just people talking about him, and that the story revolved round to Phil again. It was always about Phil and Nigel really. The skimming stones 😢

AntonNewcombesHat · 29/04/2026 16:11

It was really beautiful - Eastenders at its best. Steve McFadden really is such an incredible actor. He can flit from aggressive to emotional in the same episode and is so believable as both

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 16:23

What I liked was it wasn’t too much.
The stone going off into the water like that was a nice touch.
It was just right actually.

Shellingbynight · 29/04/2026 16:27

Steve McF really is fantastic. He even manages to lift Ross Kemp's performances in their scenes together.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 16:29

Steve has always played Phil well. The drunk scenes, the drug scenes, the anger and the nice parts.
He manages to make him believable whatever is going on. A real asset to the soap.

Just watched tonight's episode. What a tear jerker 😭💔🤧 Loved the way Yolande was singing to him. But also the way they filmed Nigel in his youth and on the beach with Phil in parallel 👏

I think she looks 80 (sorry Laila!)
I haven't seen today's episode yet but I'm expecting it to be good.

Her hairstyle is extremely unflattering, which doesn’t help

lazymum99 · 29/04/2026 19:26

I think I may have something in my eye or it could be my hay fever!! That was very emotional and well done for once. Not sure if he got Julia’s theme?

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 19:33

Nigel had Julia’s theme at the end.

murasaki · 29/04/2026 19:40

I love that Steve McFadden gave him a real skimming stone.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2026 19:45

Isn’t it strange how we often go back to our childhoods when we reminisce about things and how it shapes us.

ambercoast · 29/04/2026 19:54

Nigel talking about his Dad's approval
"Happy, safe, loved.
You feel that, even if it's just once, even for one moment, you spend a lifetime trying to chase it down again. What a waste."

Yup😭

DareDevil223 · 29/04/2026 20:26

Just finished watching. It took me back to being at my mum's bedside when she was dying, how it took so long for her to let go. I've done some proper ugly crying.

EE get so much wrong but when they let the good actors carry the big storylines it can work so well and that was fantastically done by everyone involved.

storminabuttercup · 29/04/2026 20:44

Credit where it’s due, fantastic episode.

I sobbed.

Alucard55 · 29/04/2026 22:05

Great episode tonight. I think they done this storyline so well.

Shellingbynight · 30/04/2026 08:33

It's extraordinary how this producer can produce an episode like this, amongst the utter Zoe and Jasmine dross. It makes no sense!

That does depend in part on the actors, both Steve McF and Paul B have been outstanding. But the writing has been mainly very good too.

(I loved Phil last night pouring scorn on Grant's electric car. It as so in-character, he would have no time for that, being an old school mechanic.)

Yes, I’m thinking the same thing. I think someone more senior may have taken the lead on last nights episode and the lead up.

I’ve noticed a lot of people recently posting the credits on instagram with the captions along the lines of “my first episode taking the lead on writing” so I think a lot of newbies/other people are doing bits and pieces and then bringing it all together. It’s giving too many cooks for me though, as it’s just utterly confusing.

the80sweregreat · 30/04/2026 08:58

They definitely have different writers for different stories! The one who came up with Jasmines one needs to watch and learn from last nights one.

Purplepelican6 · 30/04/2026 10:05

Excellent episode last night
But the turn around in the in the Jasmine character was ill fitting , didn't she start a fire that Zoe was caught in ..and push Cindy down the stairs ..it's weird they are trying to make her in to a slater..she just doesn't fit .
Hopefully grant stays around for a while , looking forward to Some scenes with him Phil and Sam

the80sweregreat · 30/04/2026 10:17

Ahh, but Jasmine was being manipulated by the evil Chrissie. So she gets a Slater pass ! Lol

Shellingbynight · 30/04/2026 10:49

I think Ross Kemp was only filming for a few weeks. I assume Grant will stay for the funeral (and help pay off Mark's debts) and then go back to Portugal. I suspect Sam will leave soon after too.

Purplepelican6 · 30/04/2026 11:32

Didn't look to me like Jasmine needed much manipulating
I really don't want grant and Sam to leave
They are EE to me ..at least Phil stays .
But what can they do with Phil now ?
What storyline will they give him next ...please please not an affair with Julie because that would be wrong and he belongs with Sharon

Purplepelican6 · 30/04/2026 11:36

I've been on this thread for ages ,but I name change a lot,
But at least no one is taking the piss out of my love for EE here .
Whatever is going on in my life ,you just know you can forget it for half an hour when EE is on .
And I love the chat on here ..I watch on I player, and then come straight here to read what everyone has written 🤣
