Is anyone watching the new series? I am watching the Stephen Fry episode. Surely some of the guests have been told what questions to ask?

You can find the Lenny Henry one on Youtube too.

I love this series. I find each one interesting and moving. You really see the human side of the celebrities.

purpleme12 · 18/04/2026 18:42

I've just watched last night's on itvx

I thought he was good

purpleme12 · 18/04/2026 18:43

I watched the David Tennant one so long ago I can't remember what I thought about him

I love it too. My only thought is the more episodes there are then obviously celebs can prepare themselves better unlike the first couple where they pretty much had no idea what to expect. Still think it’s brilliant though - don’t know why it’s not on more prime time though.

Think it’s Anna Maxwell Martin on next week. Love her

I find Lenny Henry cold, the smile never reaches the eyes.

Yes I thought that - and he kept doing strange frowns. There was no warmth there

Aitch is the last episode

Another weepy - but really good

I wonder why Anna didn't get a song.
I love that bit x

IAmKerplunk · 22/04/2026 22:31

Aitch was on tonight. Didn’t cry but found myself smiling all the way through. Yet another good episode - and a song at the end!

Danny dyers was the best one. I love him as a result. He was just so warm and honest.

NS came across well.
David Tennant- yes agree with pp- it felt like he was talking to children.

The songs at the end is fantastic.

IAmKerplunk · 22/04/2026 23:07

I’d like to rewatch the first 2 when it was on BBC but I can’t find them anywhere

Just watched Aitch’s episode. Thought he came across well.

I loved the first question.

Can’t remember which ones were the bbc episodes.

thistimelastweek · 23/04/2026 16:51

I think Martin Sheen was the first to be interviewed.
I can't recall another on BBC.

Aslockton · 23/04/2026 17:26

Michael Sheen was the BBC pilot of The Assembly. It is no longer available on iplayer, but lots of extracts are on Youtube.

IAmKerplunk · 23/04/2026 17:32

Yes -Martin Sheen! You’re right, that was the only 1. Then BBC dropped it and ITV picked it up.

Rylan Clarke is on it in May. They really move the scheduling around on this programme

Martin Sheen is an 85 year old American actor. The Assembly interviewed the welsh actor Michael Sheen who played Tony Blair in The Queen, Brian Clough in Damned United etc.

I think Lenny Henry was on his guard at first, but he relaxed towards the end.

Nicola Sturgeon came across very well, which is a first.

Blogswife · 29/04/2026 23:05

I absolutely love this program. It’s a joy to watch .

I know one of the people who are part of the group.
Its not scripted

I love this programme. I thought Nicola Sturgeon came across very well. I am looking forward to the Anna Maxwell Martin one as I have not seen it yet..

Please could you ask the member of the collective you know whether they are all given the opportunity to submit questions, and then only some questions are chosen?

Also, are they given any information about the interviewee before hand, or do they do their own research?

Thank you very much

I don't think he's a very warm person generally. My grandparents used to live near him and Dawn French many years ago, and they did not have a good rep with the locals.
