Yep Danny is definitely there for the clout, is pretending to be giving it an earnest go & no doubt too is motivated to stay by the money they must get paid to complete x no of commitment ceremonies or w’ever.
It’s just quite painful to watch Bec fall for his faux sincerity, despite how toxic & damaged she actually is. The scraps he throws that’s she’s so desperate to latch onto as evidence that he likes her, is not comfortable to watch.
Altho I do think she’s at the same time invested in a similar competitive narrative to Gia, where she wants to be the top couple (despite their glaring issues). And is trotting out stock lines like “I couldn’t ever imagine not being with him now” & “I’ve never ever had this with anyone”. What’s distressing is that with Bec there’s a painful seam of truth to that. Whereas with Gia she’s Teflon thick & nothing can penetrate that pneumatic iexterior.
