Eastenders made me tear up tonight for the first time in a very long time.

It’s terrible that people in mental health crises have to wait until it gets this bad before anyone will see/treat them; I think they did this part well. Some reflection of the struggles of real life.

Zippidydoodah · 23/04/2026 21:45

Mind you, when mark was on the phone to grunt I did wonder why there were people laughing etc, and how he didn’t notice Ravi and the crowd by the bridge. Can’t you see that bridge from where he was sitting? He did hear the sirens though.

Shellingbynight · 23/04/2026 21:50

My problem with the Ravi plot is that it in no way resembles the life of anyone who ever lived. He has killed two dads, been a drug lord turned police informer, attacked his son in a drug induced frenzy and then had a mental health breakdown. Not surprising really, but who can relate to that in any way?

Whereas Phil's mental health crisis was far better observed and much more relatable.

Alucard55 · 23/04/2026 21:53

Just jump Ravi. Agree @Shellingbynight had enough of this storyline now.

Alucard55 · 23/04/2026 21:56

Also agree @Shellingbynight Ravi has done some awful things and treated people terribly. Are we supposed to feel sympathy for him after what he done to Kojo. I've said before I don't know why Suki bothers with him he had Kheerat beaten up in prison.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 21:56

Agree that Max and Cindy are brilliant! Good actors at the top of their game. Chemistry. Even some humour.
Keep it up guys !

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 22:03

Ravi helped Suki after she murdered that other man ..
She probably feels she owes him.

Shellingbynight · 23/04/2026 22:09

80s do you mean ranveer? She didn’t kill him, Ravi did! He just let her think she’d done it.

Its from the album "Glory Box" and is one of THE BEST british trip-hop albums out there.

The songs on it are.. moving, if you manage to understand the lyrics. It's one of my favourite albums of all time, and Roads is one of the most moving tracks on there... made me tear up hearing it.

It's from the album Dummy.
Glorybox was a track on the album.
I still love Portishead, the absolute best band to have existed.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2026 05:01

I admit that the Ranveer story baffled me a bit.
So, Suki thought she had killed him but it was Ravi ?
Was he ever found ? I can’t recall what went on !

Yes it all came out in the end after a video was seen on a laptop, Ranveer had attacked Suki, Suki hit him with something and thought she’d killed him. however Ravi had actually come in and seen he was still alive so finished the job.

Shellingbynight · 24/04/2026 08:04

Thanks @MyWildOliveGoose
80s that's why I said he killed his two dads, Ranveer who he thought was his dad, and then Nish who really was.

I used to like Ravi because despite his bad deeds he was complex and interesting and had a real charm. But lately they piled too much on him and the mental health breakdown is so transparently a device to get the character 'forgiven' for all that went on. Standing on the bridge last night while his kids watched and pleaded with him.... euch.

Eastie77Returns · 24/04/2026 08:04

Didn’t Denise find the laptop showing Ravi killing Ranvir? She was terrified of him for a while but then conveniently forgot his murderous past when she started sleeping with him.

Poor Elaine, she’s definitely fallen for Ian’s dubious charms. They do have better chemistry than she ever had with George. Agree she’d better sleep with one eye open if Bea works it out!

Shellingbynight · 24/04/2026 08:08

I think a few people found that footage? And then as is the way of all things EastEnders, everyone forgot.

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2026 09:06

They find out that soap actors can actually act and then pile on the pressure for the big storylines.
Priya did well too. That bridge needs to be locked up.

Just like everyone seems to have forgotten about Kheerat rotting away in prison having taken the blame for murdering Ranveer when he thought Suki had done it!

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2026 09:13

Kheerat offered to do time didn’t he ? I think that the actor wanted to leave , so might have been another reason. They may have him out in twenty years time to have revenge on Ravi with a new head, but mostly I do feel it’s one story that will be dropped.

Thi is so realistic. I work in a connected field and have seen it with friends in crisis, there’s nothing there, nothing consistent or targeted to the individual until they’re at the point of serious risk to themselves or others .

Suki never mentions him and doesn’t appear to visit him. You’d think she’d be wracked with guilt and sadness. Ditto the daughter (name escapes me) who she completely ignores. There was another son who died in prison. I honestly can’t believe she’s considered foster parent material with her past.

Anyonecanfallinlove · 24/04/2026 09:47

I agree i was rooting for Phil to get better, but I don't care about Ravi. It's a shame as I was a Ravi fan before, but the Kojo, Harry storyline was just a step too far. Cukooing is abhorrent, Ravi should have gone to prison, he chose to weasel out by being an informant, yet he didn’t even inform on anyone. He has been a terrible father, brother, son, you name it.

They don’t have many actors who can carry the really big storylines so they have to rotate the most important plots around a select few.

Someone mentioned upthread you can tell the actors who have been properly trained. That doesn’t mean just attending stage school lessons as the Jasmine ‘actress’ allegedly did.

Tobe fair, he told Oakie to let Harry go and I don’t think he was aware H was tied up in the flat all that time. But he started the cuckooing and agree he has done some heinous things so it’s hard not to think karma (well at least I did).

Shellingbynight · 24/04/2026 10:33

Agree re Ravi, he's just done too much now to be forgiven, the writers plotted him into a corner and a few weeks in rehab isn't going to cut it.

Suki isn’t ignoring Ash (daughter), Ash is refusing to have anything to do with Suki. Ash got married a few months ago and didn’t even tell her, Vinny went to the wedding.

The Kheerat thing is ridiculous, okay he was willing to go to jail to save Suki, he certainly wouldn’t be willing to save Ravi. But we all have to move on and forget!

the80sweregreat · 24/04/2026 10:36

The irony with Ash was Suki’s reaction to her coming out and now she’s married to Eve. Who is woefully underused now she is back from being poorly in real life. I don’t blame Ash for not wanting her at the wedding.

Shellingbynight · 24/04/2026 10:55

I agree, Suki was really awful to Ash.

I wonder where they are going to take the adoption storyline for them (another ridiculous storyline with Suki's history!)
