Today’s episode is very exciting. Really enjoyed it.

Southeastdweller · 23/04/2026 09:32

There was no suspense at all for me in today's episode, but there was good acting from everyone. I did also - finally - feel some sympathy for Ravi at the end.

Jasmine dropped her only good line though when Cindy said the face cream cos 150 quid and she said ‘you wanna get your money back’

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 13:07

I think Cindy looks fab! I’d be upset if someone used face cream instead of baby cream too. Especially as the cost of it has shot up and it’s not cheap anymore.

Oh gods , I just finished and am actually crying, that was very well done, it was incredibly sad.
Poor Nugget!
I think they’ve made an excellent job of showing mental health crisis, maybe not everyone makes it to a bridge with crowds below but many people know that feeling of utter despair and need to make it all stop.

also Bea sounded pissed when talking to Ian

MyWildOliveGoose · 23/04/2026 13:25

I think today’s episode was absolutely brilliant.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 13:27

I didn’t really feel too much today either.
I felt frustrated that he didn’t help Max rescue anyone and the extras around were pretty useless as well!
Jimmy was so good! Bless him.
The start was very surreal , I was a bit taken in by that I must admit. It must have taken ages to film it all and looked freezing cold!

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 13:29

Bea did look a bit merry didn’t she!
Cindy and max were good. Ravi did really well ( well acted) but he did bring a lot of this on himself to start with. Nicola didn’t help either of course.

murasaki · 23/04/2026 14:13

I thought it was very good. Was it Portishead playing when Ravi did his solo walk down the street?

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 14:17

I didn’t recognize the song they played.
The poor pharmacy got it again ! They will need to up their insurance. At least the residents were not in it this time around.

Edited

Yes it was portishead. Me and my friends had them on repeat back in the day, I miss sharing albums with friends!
every now and then Eastenders really go in for their music.
in the early day you could always hear dub reggae around the market square an I’ve noticed that again a few times lately.
i remember a period whenever anyone was having any kind of sexytime a newer Sade tune would be on in the background.
the tune fitted today but sort of feels incongruous at the same time because it’s rare that they use music in that way

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 14:50

Which track was it ?

I think i still have Glorybox on cd....

They do often do music well, I do try to listen out as sometimes it's really relevant to the scene. Picking it to maths the script would be a fun job.

Yes definitely, and the outfits (for some of them) . I HATED Lola’s clothes!
plus decorating places like Peacock Boudoir and costumes for celebrations

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 16:38

I don’t know much about Portishead , but the song was called ‘ roads’ ( had to watch that bit again and do some detective work on the lyrics)

I did. I wasn’t keen on the ending (suicide) as most men I know who’ve done it just go off and do it quietly… gosh it’s so sad how men I know of (not close friends) who’ve done this.

The ending was good though and the beginning too, but confused me. Actors all good. Especially Nugget.

I’ve only just watched today’s episode and noticed in the scene with Ian and Elaine where they were talking about Bea, Harriet Thorpe’s delivery of the “so you two are getting serious?” hinted Elaine has developed feelings for Ian. Later on she looked put out when she saw Bea. Elaine’s not his type so I expect she’ll make a pass at him and will be rebuffed.

I don’t think anyone will die from the car crash. I note that Ravi is diagnosed next week with complex PTSD so this crash is likely a way into to the diagnosis part of the story so the whole thing will come to a quick end, also it’s a way for Max and Cindy to get closer.

Quick end? Usually if you’re hospitalised and sectioned you’re in there for at least 2 months. I should know.

lazymum99 · 23/04/2026 18:19

Just finished. That was done so well. I was really moved by it and worried for Ravi.
the beginning was also clever.

Pettifogg · 23/04/2026 18:28

Very good acting by Ravi. Made me a bit tearful.

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 19:16

Max’s quip about Ian to Cindy was funny!

Its from the album "Glory Box" and is one of THE BEST british trip-hop albums out there.

The songs on it are.. moving, if you manage to understand the lyrics. It's one of my favourite albums of all time, and Roads is one of the most moving tracks on there... made me tear up hearing it.

Mark was the first person I thought of, but he owes £10k and has only raised a very small slice of that. He knows Zack is broke and Vicki works in a cafe so anything they pay him will be about 1% of what he owes!

Grant is back next week for the end of the Nigel storyline.

I thought Phil said £100k!

the80sweregreat · 23/04/2026 20:12

The words made sense with the story of the drugs snd how it’s ruined his life.

gingercat02 · 23/04/2026 20:23

That was heart breaking 💔

Shellingbynight · 23/04/2026 21:36

I really liked tonight’s episode. The beginning had me gripped, which has not happened since… can’t remember, a very long time!

Cindy and Max really made the episode. They have an incredible connection, a real testament to the two actors who work so well together.

But I was not interested in Ravi and Priya, I feel I have seen enough of them to last a lifetime. I was a Ravi fan for a long time, but this latest attempt to rehabilitate him feels self indulgent. I thought what he did to his family this week was the worst thing he’s ever done. And yes I know he’s ill, but I still feel that way.
