I'm rewatching Bridgerton - did I misremember Lord Featherington shooting himself?

He got into loads of debt, and I'm sure he shut himself in his office and shot himself. I remember the scene.

But now I'm rewatching, he just sort of disappears and we're not entirely sure where he's gone? But he must be dead because the family are in mourning colours for a bit. But it's not really made clear what happened.

Am I going mad?

Not going mad, I remember this too. Are you maybe on the kids Netflix profile and seeing a more PG version?

hollytheheroic · 18/03/2026 07:25

Google says he was poisoned by shady characters!

WhatAreYouDoingSundayBaby · 18/03/2026 07:26

I thought he was killed by people he owed money to?

Oricolt · 18/03/2026 07:41

I don't think I can be watching a kids' version. There's lots of sex.

@Dooboodoo5 You remember it too!! We saw him in his office and then the shot rang out in the house.

@hollytheheroic @WhatAreYouDoingSundayBaby Yes, some shady goons took him somewhere and he never came back. Weird.

Are there two versions?

Im pretty sure he was poisoned at his desk by the people he owed money too.

firstofallimadelight · 18/03/2026 07:48

No there was a boxing match and he tried to rig the outcome but failed and the men he owed money to took him off and I think they poisoned him not shot him. Have you read the book? It could be different in the book (I have read it but can’t remember! )

Omg yes, I just rewatched it and I remembered he died somehow but it was glossed over. Netflix editing perhaps?

CatWithThreeLegs · 18/03/2026 08:09

I definitely remember a scene where he was killed. I thought he was stabbed, though. Not read the novel and could be misremembering details but I'm pretty sure it was at a boxing match.

Oh my goodness, I rewatched it last night and I'd also remembered him killing himself! But now it's he's been murdered? feels like the mandela affect xxx

Are you muddling Bridgerton up with the Gilded Age? I think there was a similar death in that
