new 6 part series stars Eve Myles (https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/uk/lifestyle/a65948077/best-eve-myles-dramas/) (Keeping Faith) as gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, who's investigating the mysterious disappearance of Bristol woman, Sarah.

And the chilling twist is that Detective Cassidy’s main suspect is Sarah’s husband, Headmaster Michael Polly, who's played by none other than Sherwood's David Morrissey. Genius casting indeed!

Gone is a chilling mystery focusing on local Headmaster Michael Polly, played by David Morrissey (The Long Shadow, Sherwood), who becomes the prime suspect in his wife Sarah’s disappearance.

An upstanding member of the community, Michael Polly is inscrutable and likes order and precision in his working life.

Until, that is, he encounters super bright, gutsy Detective Annie Cassidy, played by Eve Myles (The Crow Girl, Hijack) and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she chips away at his veneer in search of the truth.

Beneath the surface of the mystery, lies a deeper exploration of trauma, trust and the legacy of elite institutions.

The series also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham and Clare Higgins.

“As brilliant as Keeping Faith”: 9 of the best Eve Myles dramas to watch now on ITV, the BBC, Netflix and more

One of the slowest dramas I’ve seen. It could have been halved.
It dragged so much that I’ve spent many episodes scrolling whilst keeping a general eye on proceedings.

Acting was good but the pace just awful. Thumbs down 👎 from me.

Utter drivel from start to finish!

Disappointing for sure.

JaneJeffer · 23/03/2026 22:12

If it was on YouTube I’d have been using the x2 button

SydneyCarton · 23/03/2026 22:14

So what was the significance of Sarah’s card being used at the pub in Wales? And where and when did he kill her, and store the body and transport it to the woods? Did Annie suspect him all along and only mentioned Dylan as a ruse to get back to the school, or did she only realise when she saw the lock?

JaneJeffer · 23/03/2026 22:14

Hope the Dylan actor gets more work because he’s very good

HDJH1234 · 23/03/2026 22:15

Didnt see the point of her ex being in and out of the picture either. That story added nothing.

What was all that handbag rubbish about - did I tune out and miss something?

Netcurtainnelly · 23/03/2026 22:15

Was glad for it too end, long drawn out and loads of mumbling. What the hell was he on about at the police station with his daughter there. It was labouring and painful to watch that scene. I just laughed to cope with it all.
It was obvious it was never going to be be him.

No clue about the handbag either. Could have shortened it to to four episodes. This is why I rarely watch ITV dramas. This was not entertaining at all.

I think a red herring. As in husband had her card and used it as don’t have his

not sure how head killed sarah by accident in the woods after 430 as dog walker last didn’t see them

but was good and kept us guessing

The card being used at the pub was the man she was having the affair with. He used it. But they didn't know that at the time. And that was one of their avenues of enquiry. So it was just one of the clues

Annie only just realised when she saw the lock

Netcurtainnelly · 23/03/2026 22:19

By the time the 6th episode has come. You've forgotten what happened at the beginning.

I admit that I finished this a few days ago and I found it really hard going and was also sad that Tina wasn’t found too. It was well acted, but very slow.

Exactly this!

JaneJeffer · 23/03/2026 22:20

I’m glad I don’t have to do an exam on this because I didn’t get half of it Grin

Netcurtainnelly · 23/03/2026 22:34

JaneJeffer · 08/03/2026 21:56

He’s getting on my nerves

Miserable slog the whole thing.

JenniferBooth · 23/03/2026 22:35

And what a waste of Claire Goose

Fizbosshoes · 23/03/2026 22:43

Been watching 2 episodes at a time on itv x.
(Which is annoying because as well as the slow pace of the drama, you also cant fast forward the ads)
The end was very unsatisfying that the Tina case wasnt moved on at all.
DH and I were both relieved it wasnt Dylan...
And why was Alanas boyfriend so convinced it was Michael...?

purpleme12 · 23/03/2026 22:52

He just really didn't like him did he

Well yes, CG and Dylan were a great big nothingburger. We didn't even find out who won the rugby match! 😁Very stagey, with all those long soulful epilogues, I think even a Scandi editor would have blinked.

PrincessScarlett · 23/03/2026 23:05

I think having David Morrissey and Eve Myles in it was a massive win. Other actors playing the parts and the whole thing would have been awful. Although I did prefer EM as the vicar in Coldwater over her part in this.

I loved Michael's interactions with Annie, Alanna and Dylan. Particularly Dylan. The fact he wanted to help Dylan despite his wife's affair with Dylan's dad showed he was always a half decent guy deep down and not capable of murdering his wife.

ApplesinmyPocket · 23/03/2026 23:15

Gosh what a load of miseries in here! 😉 Just for balance, I thought it was excellent - brilliant acting from Annie and Michael, interesting plot (I was pleased at the final twist, making it NOT Dylan) - great Bristol backdrop.

Didn't find it slow at all.

The mumbling was awful. The scene at the police station with his daughter what on earth was he saying? We were laughing here and just willing it to come to an end. Awful.

I didn't either, and this thread has sparked more interest than most, but it was pretty baggy, and padded out with pointless red herrings. Good turns from EM and DM made it a bit of an event.

I was really moved by that scene and could understand what Michael was saying 🤷🏻‍♀️
