The first episode of the new season will air on 5 at 9pm on Tuesday 10 March, while the second instalment will follow just one day after on Wednesday 11 March.

e 3&4 the following week

The new season will be made up of four episodes, with every two episodes tackling one case. Returning alongside Clarke in the main cast will be Andrew Gower as DS Chet Harper and Charlotte McCurry as DC Kate Trent.

Meanwhile, other actors set to appear this time around include James Doran, Niamh Blackshaw, Cariad Lloyd, Keir Charles, Mark Addy, Stephen Tompkinson and Sonny Ashbourne Serkis, amongst others.

The synopsis for season 2 says: "Fresh from her victories in series one, DCI Ellis is once again parachuted into failing cases across the north of England. With Harper at her side, she faces a new wave of fractured communities and suspicious deaths that test not only her forensic brilliance but her resilience.

"The series takes them from a rural village, where the suspicious death of a beloved community leader exposes long-nursed resentments, to the industrial shadow of a stone works, where the death of a young woman reveals a hidden network of coercion and exploitation. Every case peels back layers of silence, ambition, and betrayal."

I really like this. Shame only 4 episodes.

Chet definitely doesn't look like a Chet - I'm glad I'm not the only one who's irritated by that!

More like a Nigel or Darren!

I thought Ellis was becoming more and more ridiculous. She keeps announcing things as fact when it’s only supposition on her part. Like when she was looking the photographs of the victim and pronounced that the look in her eyes meant ‘she was in love’ and they had to find her boyfriend now. Fine to say ‘we need to find who took the photos’ but her absolute certainty was ridiculous.

Also the way she says ‘Come’ to people as if she’s ordering a dog to follow her. She’s sanctimonious and unpleasant and once it struck me that she looked like a reject from Dr Who I couldn’t take her seriously.

Shame as I liked the first series and prefer the 2 hour format.

Me too … but then I missed both this week so watched them both together last night 🤣. I thought this story was better than last week’s. I like her. And I hope sidekick bloke gets together with computer girl.

I wondered if they'd follow through on the trafficking storyline.

I was wondering if I'd missed the reveal to that!

So the son was giving info-to a random who asked?

Managed to watch all 4 episodes at the weekend . Am I the only one who had no clue in either storyline about who dunnit ? I must admit that I am slightly distracted when watching as will check for updates on phone etc . I do rewind if I miss things . I am usually not bad in other crime series for guessing the culprit - but 0 out of 2 here !

Should I watch it again , did I miss lots of clues ?

I loved how Ellis was not remotely going to chase anyone and would order Chet to do so - who ran off in hot pursuit .

I was thinking about that it is less distracting that Ellis and Chet are drafted into new places which they travel to . So we don’t see much about their domestic situations . We learned a bit more about Ellis’s daughter Grace and that Chet was doing a degree in pyschology .Also that Chet had a hard time with his last boss / place of work .
I don’t remember much about his backstory from season 1 .

Ellis is obviously deliberately portrayed as an enigma / closed book . She did however suggest a drink to Chet in the final episode and even praise him .

Liked the interactions between Ellis and the Stephen Tomkinson character.
