It has been confirmed that the first episode of The Capture (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/the-capture-season-3-trailer-newsupdate/) season 3 will launch on BBC iPlayer at 6am on Sunday 8 March, before airing on BBC One at 9pm that evening.

Rather than all the episodes being made available at once on iPlayer, each new instalment will then arrive weekly on Sundays - meaning the finale is expected to air on Sunday 12 April.

😛😛😛😛 to you bingers - this is how good tv should be shown

The weekly anticipation like Line of duty and Happy Valley was

Blondes does happy dance as means hopefully be no spoilers - wouldn’t that be nice for once !! 😀😀😀😀

Holliday Grainger returns as Rachel Carey in the third season of BBC thriller The Capture (https://www.playpilot.com/show/the-capture-2019), with Rachel now dealing with a "brutal" act of terror and a high-stakes geopolitical crisis.

As seen in an adrenaline-filled extended trailer (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a70218127/the-capture-season-3-trailer/), season 3 sees Rachel at the helm of the Counter Terrorism Command as Acting Commander.

other stars joining Carey for round three of The Capture (https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/a69948383/the-capture-season-3-first-look/), including Game of Thrones' Indira Varma as Khadija Khan and Paapa Essiedu as MP Isaac Turner.

Season 3 also stars Tessa Wong as DC Chloe Tan, Lia Williams as Gemma Garland, Ginny Holder as DI Nadia Latif, Nigel Lindsay as DCI Tom Kendricks, Daisy Waterstone as Abigail.

Rounding out the cast for this season are Hugh Quarshie as Commissioner Cameron Yates, plus Broadchurch's Andrew Buchan, Game of Thrones' Joe Dempsie, Kaos star Killian Scott, and Good Omens' Jonathan Aris.

As Isaac suggests hiring Rachel as Commander of CTD is the best way for the department to "clean up its act", she's confident that the newly rolled-out Operation Veritas, a surveillance system aimed to detect deepfakes in real time, will restore public trust in the institutions.

After a shooting takes place in central London, Rachel realises she's the only one who's seen the attacker. When footage of the incident is released, she is stunned when she doesn't recognise the man, realising the video has been altered with Correction, the covert manipulation programme uncovered in previous seasons.

But the shooting derails the plan, with Rachel desperate to find out the truth and who's behind the attack.

I’d rather binge tbh. I seem to forget when on weekly and so binge if I can or save episodes up. It’s an age thing as I wasn’t like this a few years ago.

deeahgwitch · 17/03/2026 08:30

Just watched the first episode last night.
Oh my !
I didn’t see that ending coming. 😮

Holliday Grainger is a great actress.
Up there with Miranda Richardson.

I'm already losing my grasp on this. I thought the most interesting scenes were between Rachel and her old boss (forget character's name - played by Lia Williams). She and Rachel's other old boss (the one she was having an affair with in S1) were disgraced because they were using the Capture technology to convict people with doctored evidence and Rachel exposed all that and now that technology is seen to be the enemy of the people and her organisation are trying to thwart it rather than use it illegally.

So the big question is - who is changing the images of the assassination and why, who is Noah working for? Could it be the shadowy US character from series 1 - the one that Frank Napier is working for? He had a female boss who arrived from the states for a couple of scenes and then got on the phone to their big boss in the US, she was in a chauffeur driven car at the time if anyone remembers.

And how could Noah possibly be appointed Commander when no one has really explained where he came from, what his credentials are. Are we to believe the two senior police characters are villains all in on it? There was a scene where the 3 of them were having a private conflab.

Frank is definitely a nasty man who loves a bit of interrogation and torture. I'm finding it a bit much to swallow that she (Rachel) is now cosying up with him.

usedtobeaylis · 17/03/2026 15:49

Noah gives me the absolute creeps. He also doesn't have any presence or credibility, I'm not sure they've cast the right guy for this. No gravitas.

Find it frustrating that despite being the only person to be able to positively ID someone she has to keep it quiet because nobody would believe her and would just assume she's had some kind of mental break - as Gemma suggested.

I love Holliday Grainger though, she's fantastic. I'm not the biggest fan of Paapa Essiedu but like him in this and that was an absolute shocker of a plot point.

I’m not the biggest fan of Paapa Essiedu.

I probably am. Not happy at all. (And I was furious when the BBC did this with him in Gangs of London. Waited an age to enjoy another season with him - and pffft!; first episode. Ruined that show for me.

Smidge001 · 20/03/2026 00:04

Just caught up on episode 2. I LOVE this series, i think it's the best thing on TV ever, i'm so excited for the next episode Grin

I'm a bit lost about whether her old boss and the american bloke are goodies or baddies. And not sure how she had time to call him in to her surrepticious ploy. But, am i right that she entered different coordinates from the rest of the team on purpose, to lead him to that warehouse where he genuinely thought the set up chap would be? And he just went marching in without waiting for the cops just coz he's a big ego'd dick who wanted some arrest glory? (I thought he'd have played it a bit cooler tbh - but suspect they had to do it like this so we all thought it was the other way around - that HE was setting her up). Oh it was so good! No wonder it took so long for series 3.

deeahgwitch · 20/03/2026 08:28

I’m a bit lost too on who is a goodie and who is a baddie @Smidge001
You really have to concentrate watching it.

purpleme12 · 20/03/2026 08:32

Surely we don't know yet though?.
I thought it was supposed to be unclear and we were supposed to be confused

Urgentbiscuitrequired · 20/03/2026 18:33

I was wondering something much more far fetched. I think it is something more than that her just leading him there, and they are both genuine people being set up against each other. She thinks he's the shooter but he wasn't really there. He's seeing her in the warehouse place, but it isn't really her. I'm not sure how you can do that with technology and what the motive is for it all though.

purpleme12 · 20/03/2026 18:52

But she saw him in real life
And he's seeing her in real life in the warehouse

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/03/2026 18:53

He def shot someone in front of her

assume def was Isaac and not some weird cover thing

daffodilandtulip · 21/03/2026 12:23

I’m glad it’s far fetched and hard to believe. I mean, imagine if all this was really going on? There’s enough corruption around!

Rictasmorticia · 21/03/2026 12:44

When the series started it seemed unbelievable. Now it is looking more like reality. I am going to go back and watch from the start again

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/03/2026 15:46

From s1 @Rictasmorticia - I would like to but just don’t have the free 12hrs or so to watch 1&2 again
