😬

it’s kind of brutal how quickly they’re kicked out for the next family

Revolving Door Film GIF

Always reminds me of those revolving doors.

Jackie O was out of the White House in two weeks from jfk’s assassination - that always stays with me

Now that is brutal.
LBJ even evicted Robert Kennedy from his office almost immediately. Harsh.

Did anyone see Blair at Trump's Peace thing today? I'm not sure it's quite what he thought it would be originally.

Yet, if he hadn’t invaded Iraq, would it all have crumbled?

Personally, no I don't believe it would have done. It wouldn't have remained utopia because history shows that after ten plus years of the same person being in charge things begin to stale by the end.

But I do think his legacy would probably have been mainly positive.

I always remember Clare Short saying that the Iraq war was a bad mistake which would ruin Blair’s place in history and she’s right.

Did anyone else catch Cherie at the end saying that Tony was a great politician but as a husband and father it’s a different matter but that’s between him and her?? Ominous.

Oh I didn't catch that

I can't imagine that any pm is a good husband tbh

It was interesting to me because one commentator at the start of the series (I don’t recall who) said that Tony and Cherie’s marriage was key to his strength as PM.

Blair didn't have to deal with most of the press being against him like Starmer does. He also didn't have the equivalent of Reform nipping at his ankles.

Nor 24 news and social media. Blair also inherited a good economy - thanks to Ken Clarke.
