Welcome to Thread 9 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far <spoiler warning if you haven’t seen the start of episode 9>

How come nobody has thought to themselves: "Crikey, Rachel is seriously good at this. Everybody likes her and everybody trusts her, she is so calm and really astute, and when people have accused her, she shrugs it off so easily. She's an awesome Faithful and could easily win, so I simply cannot understand why the Traitors haven't murdered her yet.......... oh wait.......hang on....... <facepalm>...💡"

Exactly!
Surely by now the faithfuls should be wondering why the traitors are leaving innocent, "FBI-trained", friend-to-everyone, eloquent at the RT, calm, unflappable, mentioned directly by TWO players in kamikaze ways, trouble -stirrer Rachel in??

Surely?? Surely??

I'm not sure why Ben was adamant that Ross was a traitor - clearly he was wrong. But he says it to a select few in the library.

So when Ross was voted out as a faithful after Ben being murdered, Jessie was sure that one of the people in the library 5 must be a traitor as they deliberately tried to frame Ross. And she was right as both Fiona who proposed Ben for murder, and Stephen who used exactly that reasoning in the turret were part of the group.

so I think you do see logic from the faithful sometimes, but I guess so much goes on each day that they're never sure what to focus on.

Edited

I think Ben was adamant that Ross was a traitor because Ross could not stop over explaining about Netty. Even when Ross was banished it was largely because he kept going in and on about the suspicion on him. It was as self destructive as Brian in Series 2. Any behaviour that makes people uncomfortable gets labelled as traitorish at the beginning and Ross kept making himself look like he was hiding something.

Yes. How is it concievable to them that Adam was murdered ahead of Rachel?

I think Ross would have played the Netty thing differently if his long term girlfriend hadn't been in the castle with him.

His over explaining and discomfort with the Netty situation was driven by having to sit opposite Ellie and not having been able to properly explain it all to her.

I think it was a tough double whammy for him & he just never recovered from it.

MrsLeonFarrell · 17/01/2026 15:27

I do think there have been some clues for the faithful this series. But time and time ain't it seems that people would rather cite being too loud/ quiet and adding too much/ little as proof rather than looking at patterns of play and using logic.

Jessie used logic about both the library and the cages but in this series the faithful don't seem to be good at forming alliances so she just didn't get the numbers in time. If Diane and some of the other faithfuls from series 2 and Alexander and some from Series 3 had been in the castle with Jessie I'd predict a faithful victory.

I agree it got him off to a terrible start and he never really recovered. He let it get into his head and assumed everyone else was equally obsessed with it, just like Brian the sheep.

I was just chuckling to myself thinking what if all of the contestants were MNetters. The game would be over fairly swiftly as after the first three arrived for breakfast on Day 1 nobody would be able answer the door to the breakfast room.

Edited

Can you imagine?!?

Also, no one would take in a package for anyone else so Claudia wouldn't be able to deliver the traitors' letter to the murdered contestant.

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 17/01/2026 15:35

I am hoping one of the faithfuls have their eye on Rachel but they aren’t showing us in the edit to make the final dramatic.

The traitors have been great to watch but I cannot believe the faithfuls are really this clueless!

Also think Harriet’s plan was always to dramatically leave early.

NewAgeNewMe · 17/01/2026 15:35

It was just bad luck for him really with the whole Netty thing. Out of all those people applying what are the chances that you’d know someone?

Mimosa3andmore · 17/01/2026 15:47

Beachtastic · 17/01/2026 12:00

Won't it be a giveaway if the dagger goes to someone who is in their pockets? It's a clue for the others, if they choose to read it that way.

Only if the others know she's in their pockets. Given no-one seems to suspect either Stephen or Rachel at the moment, I don't think the faithful will realise it until it's game over though.

My first post on these threads this series. Usually I'm here from the start but I've been trailing at least one episode behind (still am) all the way through and trying not to see spoilers.

I've really missed the Mumsnet threads! It's been hard not having a place to check in and theorise - and there's just so much to discuss.

I'm not sure if I like the new devices in this series or not. Too early to tell for me yet.

BUT I have a question. It's from days and days ago, I can't search all the way back through the threads with Advanced Search not working properly, so does anyone mind answering me? Was it discussed at the time, what did you all think?

My question is why was Ben adamant that if he was murdered that meant Ross was a Traitor? What was behind all that? And then, further, why did that mean anything about the Library group that Jessie keeps on and on and on about?

Sorry to go over old ground again ... but it's the thing that's been really bugging me this series.

Not sure it was discussed much as we were all obsessed at who the ST was. It has crossed my mind though. Maybe we don't see the full edit and Ben had said more outside the library before to make him a target. Maybe Fiona shortlisted him as Stephen was also in the room. But Jessie wouldn't know that. But she's been dam good at acting on gut instinct, as is James, which is hard to explain logically.

I don’t think Matt and Rachel are related. Sounds like he had a tough childhood and she’s very close to her mum. Unless they’ve done some hug bridge-building, to put them in together would be really hard for them both in terms of the family politics.

I don’t think they’ll give the dagger to Matt, or recruit him. Once he sees his ‘deal’ has fallen through, will be start being more proactive?

They’re not related, Rachel is from Newry and Matt is from Londonderry, which are not even close in NI terms. They also have completely different backgrounds.

I'm hoping that as well. Surely, you would be considering everyone and thinking about their voting patterns and behaviour. A traitor has more of a reason to control their emotions. She doesn't appear to come up even when just mulling people over although didn't Faraaz mention her? I do wonder if his "when I think of someone I stick to it approach" is a way to avoid too much scrutiny of his choices by the others. But it allows him to keep his real thoughts closer to the final. I'm probably way overthinking that.

They have completely different accents to my ears.

Rachel’s not an amazing player, most of the others are just very bad.
She’ll probably win but I wonder at what personal cost. She’s not completing acting/ playing the game - this is part her personality. I certainly wouldn’t want to work with her.
But I also wouldn’t want to know Fiona, Roxy, Ben, Matt …

Guess we all look at this differently. I would be really happy to work with Rachel or hire her. Competent, calm, good communicator, good people skills.

I think you'd at least know where you stand with her. I definitely wouldn't want to work with Fiona. Would absolutely love to work with Stephen, James and Jack though. They seem like nice people.

Or they should all wear those t shirts from the 80’s that changed colour depending on body heat..

Until they have been through the wash twice and revert to a dingey midcolour!

CharlotteRumpling · 17/01/2026 16:14

I wouldn't want to work with James or Jack. They don't seem very bright. James appears chaotic.
Smart is more important than nice in the world of work.

Agree with that but I don’t think she’s a team player and that causes chaos at work.

Yes. Rachel would be good to work with because she'd be efficient. James would be fun to go for a drink with.

I suspect Rachel is extremely good at the crisis management branch of comms. For me Fiona is the only contender who came across as awful in RL as well as in the game, all the others revert to something more standard and workable with.

BlueLimes · 17/01/2026 16:19

Apart from I don’t think she has good people skills. Obviously sone people must like her but I think I’d have an aversion.

JaneJeffer · 17/01/2026 16:20

She’d probably blame her mistakes on you and everyone would believe her.

BlueLimes · 17/01/2026 16:21

Yes I wonder if she’s always centred on Rachel.
