Welcome to Thread 8 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far (as at end of Ep 6):

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)
Harriet (Faithful)

Jessie, James and Adam are the potential murder candidates, but both Jessie and James have shields.

The floor is yours…

I thought it was possibly because there was no-one with a shield. If you do recruit, it can be quite useful to have the faithful think you didn't murder because you tried to go after someone with a shield.

I meant in the show, on the night of the seven shields, rather than on here. I just thought it might have come up as to why they went for a risky murder.

@Maggiethecat Also, since Rachel seems Miss Popular in the castle will no one work out that if she is unlikely to be banished why hasn’t she been murdered?

ooh, now that is a better argument than “but Fiona and Harriet both said she was a traitor”. If I was a faithful I would think it very unlikely that a traitor would’ve tried to get another one out as early as Fiona did, tbh. But if someone does have any suspicions, your observation would be very much worth dropping into the conversation. Then you could go down the line that Fiona must have been traitor on traitor.

I’d say that this points up how necessary it is to try and build alliances, so you can have the additional conversations outside the RT to give you the confidence to go for it. For me this partly explains why Roxy was so shaken by the James shield-grab. Between that and Harriet’s “I’m not working together any longer” at breakfast the other morning, she suddenly had any sense that she had a little group she could genuinely trust shattered in front of her. So the whole game got a lot more scary. Likewise Sam, who had worked at re-building relationships since the lonely cage experience - you could see him just lose any sense that it was worth working for some greater good.

While i think it is a good point "Why hasn't she been murdered" her answer would be "The same reason Faraaz, Jessie and Whatever that one's called with the earrings."

Like them she's popular and so unlikely to be banished but she's appears to be a rubbish traitor hunter so not a threat.

Is there going to be another twist? Because tbh last nights episode was dull. I really dislike most of the faithful or they are just dull. If I’m not rooting for anyone then I will lose interest. At least Fiona and Harriet kept it lively.

It was a bit boring after 3 episodes of high tension, but I think it was also going to feel a bit filler after Hugo going, Fiona being revealed and losing it and then the questions to traitors and then Harriet losing it.

I do wonder what they are going to add into night to keep us all on the edge of our seats for next week.

xsquared · 16/01/2026 12:47

I hope they don't murder Jessie tonight, although I'm not entirely convinced that they'll kill Matt either, as he will be useful to them if they play it right.

Rachel does not want another traitor to join them other than to throw them under the bus.

It's a shame Sam went as he grew on me, and I though he committed to being a fair faithful despite being unpopular to begin with.

Cliffhanger on whether Matt is being murdered or recruited?

LittleBitofBread · 16/01/2026 12:58

Adam's parting words: 'Gits!' Grin
I liked him Sad. He made me laugh, and, like a poster on a previous thread, I think I have a bit of a weakness for Essex boys. He needs his own show.

Loved Stephen's Berlin Wall look. I wonder if he thought he was getting banished and he'd like to stand up and do his farewell speech in it?

Jessie is this season's Cassandra. I agree her youth/sex/hair/clothes/speech all combine to make people disregard her. She and Faraaz need to talk, if they haven't already, and start getting an alliance together.

People on here are talking about Rachel being 'head of comms' in a slightly awed way. Sure, she could work for the government in Belfast or something, but equally she could be head of comms for the NI equivalent of Wernham Hogg Grin

I agree with whoever said James is likeably straightforward. He's articulate, too, and he listens carefully (his and Jessie's private conversation was nice). I liked last night's jumper as well.

Jessie and Faraaz are my favourites though. I'm rooting for them, but I fear for them both.

LittleBitofBread · 16/01/2026 12:59

I think what's difficult to see from the edit we are given is who is and who isn't "popular" with the group based on social interactions - because of the tasks etc we just don't see much of them chatting about stuff other than the game, which they must do for hours each day. I feel like this has decreased over time because in Series 1 I remember lots of discussion about the clique and the boy who was in love with Alex before the boyfriend reveal happened. I suppose it's also like how every reality tv programme changes over time though - you did get the sense in the first series that some of them were just there to hang out in a castle and make friends/have an experience rather than the game/money/exposure which has increased over time.

So, when Rachel and Stephen murdered Adam they said "I can't read him/influence him/I'm not friendly with him" which implied that they are both well liked by others in the group and have influence with them. I can really see how this would be the case with Stephen particularly as he is very sweet. Also, there are clearly some cliques as they've consistently voted people out who are over the age of 30!

With Jessie, I thought it was interesting she's friendly with James who clearly no one likes/listens to either. I'd like more of the social dynamics in the edit to make the whole thing make more sense.

E.g. the final of the celebrity traitors was bizarre. Something clearly happened between David and Nick we didn't see/they are best Pals and that influenced what happened.

What do you think happened?

Cliffhanger on whether Matt is being murdered or recruited?

I'm not sure that's a cliffhanger. The only person who thinks Matt is getting recruited, is Matt. For the viewers at home it's really clear that the current traitors don't want to recruit.

xsquared · 16/01/2026 13:03

PinkPanther57 · 16/01/2026 12:47

A ‘seer’ power? Or similar gift…

They sort of did that with the opportunity to ask the traitors questions.

MrsLeonFarrell · 16/01/2026 13:05

So very true.

With regard to Rachel and how she is in real life. Traitors who play a great game always get called unpleasant but there is no evidence they are. They are playing a game where they have to lie and betray. Even those who come across badly in the castle, traitor or faithful, usually redeem themselves on Uncloaked (except Fiona) and show who they really are (Fiona did that).

If she does win she’ll have to do a serious damage limitation exercise for the real world. Will have to say how much she grew to like the other players and started to feel bad about murdering them (think she’s already started to say similar in the diary room) when she really doesn’t give a jot.
If I were a work colleague I would be second guessing her behaviour at work now.

I work with a head of comms who is EXACTLY like Rachel. Ruthless, manipulative, always says the right thing, at the right time, in a clever way to serve their own purposes or agenda. On a surface level they are a very nice person but is totally focused, self serving and calculated.

WhatAreYouDoingSundayBaby · 16/01/2026 13:17

I think they would be so stupid to murder Jessie tonight, they need to murder Matt surely? He thinks he has that weird plan with them which he could reveal at any point and murdering him has no link to either of them.

I also think it's a real shame that the whole 'Secret Traitor' thing stopped Rachel & Stephen recruiting after Hugo left - the Secret Traitor added nothing to the show really, and now the Traitors are too nervous to recruit at this late stage. The recruitment is a great part of the show and it's good to see how the new Traitor handles themselves/whether they will come in and try and oust one of the original traitors.

It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out that Ellie clocked Rachel and Stephen long ago and is keeping her head down. There's no advantage to her in getting rid of them.

I think this too.

Yep, I’ve worked with a few of those types. Multi faced, know which levers to pull and have lots of people fooled.

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2026 13:23

Just catching up on the thread so I might be repeating what someone else has already said.

Wasn’t Matt told that the traitors were allowed to lie to him yet he’s acting as if they couldn’t?!

Did nobody think it was weird that Rachel suddenly rushed off to accuse Faraaz out of the blue? I would have been very suspicious of that.

I agree. Whenever her name crops up, it takes me a few minutes to remember who she is. I learnt to distinguish the interchangeable men much quicker.

Yes Matt seems to have forgotten that they could be lying and is still just waiting to be asked.

Sadly I think they’ll murder Jessie and then Matt the next night (as he’ll still think they’re going to recruit him when he sees Jessie is murdered as he’ll assume they’re just doing their part of the (fake) deal)

If they murder Jessie though he’ll think it shows that they’re going along with his deal so he’ll keep quiet until he’s recruited. Which sadly, for him, he won’t be. I’m guessing he’ll be murdered next time.

I hope the traitors lose. They get too much airtime, whilst some of the others get hardly any. My favourites have gone (Sam and Harriet), so now I don’t really care which faithfuls win, as long as they do. Unlikely at this point in time!

Rachel got very little air time yesterday, so I knew she wasn't going out. Weird that no one's mentioned the fact that a traitor said she was a traitor!

True, she will always have that as a response.

It will need enough of the remaining faithfuls to start looking at her in a less uncritical way. The tide can sway quite quickly once it happens, so it could still all unravel against her, but she’s dealt masterfully with everything that’s been thrown her way so far.

It’s really not, due to how relatively early in the game that happened. If anything that will have cemented her as a legit faithful for quite a lot of them. However if someone can put those two things together they could form a persuasive argument I think: ie if we (the faithful) thought that Fiona’s accusation confirmed Rachel was a faithful, the ferocity of her attack demonstrated that the traitors really wanted her out, so why has she not been banished since?
