Welcome to Thread 7 of Traitors 2026.

This thread runs at TV pace so do not read any further if you are not up to date with the live broadcast. Whilst most discussion will be on the current series, inevitably people will refer to previous series/players/winners so reader beware if you’ve not seen the 3 previous editions, or the celebrity version.

While we welcome posters discussing their theories and speculating on relationships/connections between players, please don’t post spoilers from elsewhere that may ruin things for those of us who like to see things unfold over the course of the series.

The story so far (as at end of Ep 6):

Traitors
Hugo
Rachel
Stephen
Fiona (Secret Traitor)

Murdered
Netty
Ben
Maz
Reece

Banished
Judy (Faithful)
Hugo (Traitor)
Ross (Faithful)
Amanda (Faithful)
Fiona (Traitor)

This thread is starting mid-way through Episode 7, so goodness only knows what is going to happen in the Round Table Showdown that is brewing.

The floor is yours…

Have to say I think this is the worst series yet,
not helped by the fact that this has followed celebrity traitors which was just glorious fun.

I think the twists in this series have been over complicated and redundant - I don’t think the secret traitor added anything nor did the chat to the traitors. The cast are fairly boring and not very bright. I will keep watching because it is good entertainment overall but I fast fwd through all the trials and am getting a bit sick
of all their theories which are convoluted and confusing at the best of times!

They are in the castle for I believe three weeks dimes almost continuously.
We see three hours a week of that for four weeks
the edit is huge and sets the narrative
They are playing a game
dear god if it even crossed my mind that I'd want to have a go at this I probably wouldn't because I'd know my entire character would be decided and shredded by randoms online based on the narrative of a game decided by editors and a snapshot of my life.
This is mumsnet where people regularly tell people not to judge because they've "only witnessed a snapshot " of someone's life and here we are calling people bitches etc based on something that isn't even really real
Analyse the game play by all means but some of what is being said about these people on here makes me uncomfortable
Apologies for being a Debbie downer

I think its reasonable to judge the characters on what we see so long as we remember its characters not the whole person. They are all playing roles in a role playing game.
However pretty much everyone on the show comes across as normal and much nicer on Uncloaked/outside interviews. I liked Harriet up until last night, I think frankly she went slightly nuts over the questioning but was back to normal on Uncloaked - I’d put that down to the pressure of the game.

Fiona was the exception to that - she seemed to take malicious pleasure in her treatment of others outside the game as much as inside.

Stephen survived all the early heat bring one of the 5 in the library when Ben made his comment and Jesse had thought of him as a Traitor for so long but now doesn't mention it at all

The " I had FBI training " so I'm so good at spotting the micro expressions that I voted for Ross 😂

At one point tonight I had convinced myself that if you buy into the theory that others are connected somehow to another player perhaps it's Matty connected to Rachel or Stephen, will get recruited & then they will throw the other non connected Traitor under the bus

I would have murdered Roxy for being annoying - harsh but I don't warm to her , Ellie us playing a good bland game - dont reveal your a psychologist or you will be next

Possibly because Fiona was also in the library and she was voted out.

So now they think she was the traitor who pinned it on Ross

But it is true.
She did pin it.

She was the secret traitor a d thats why she put Ben in the choices to be killed as the Secret Traitor.

And Stephen took the bait.

I agree, I think she’s taking it all in and figuring it out.
I also think the Harriet scenes were heavily edited and she was probably having to heavily defend herself against all the wallies that are blindly following Rachel.
I still can’t take to Rachel, and Roxy is really annoying me now as well.

Yes this is the impression I got re editing. Harriet seemed to go overboard but I think she was furiously trying to get across her certainty of Rachel being a Traitor and it wasn’t being received. Roxy in my view was far more rude, interrupting her and trying to assert her authority that a collective approach had been decided. She is so far up Rachel’s backside too which is cringeworthy.

Great comment.
He does look as though he’s about to whip his cap off, scratch his head and say, well the work will cost 4 grand mate, but I’ll do it for 3 fifty for cash, just for you like.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Interesting point made by Harriet about Rachel wearing the wacky dungarees and looking like a children’s TV presenter. Then suddenly coming to the round table dressed like the new corporate manager who’s sole intention is to save the company money by firing all the hardworking, loyal staff whilst wishing them all the best, knowing full well that they will soon be leaving that company and moving onto another corporate role and ruining the lives of other staff there.
Why isn’t anyone putting 2 and 2 together and working out that both Fiona and Harriet have said Rachel is a traitor and both of them were faithfuls.
I’m also sure that Harriet named Steven as a traitor, maybe not at the round table but to other contestants.
I wouldn’t trust Matthew. I would insist he told me what he asked the traitors otherwise, I would think he is a traitor. Same with Rachel, I would ask her again what she asked the traitors as her wishy washy answers weren’t clear enough.
Team Jessie to win, with James, or maybe Adam who is growing on me. So too is Sam!

But Fiona was not a faithful.

Taking part in this show would provide perfect research material for a crime author. The cynic in me suggests that a couple of years from now there will be a murder mystery about a bunch of "complete strangers" who gather at a remote castle for a TV game show with the premise that they are picked off one by one and have to work out who is doing it. Except that the first murder turns out to be real, and the rest of the competitors (now suspects) are not actually strangers ... 🙄😂

One of her books was on Unlimited, don’t know if it still is - The Lies You Told

Oh thank you, it wasn't when I last looked! I wonder if her next book will be about being a contestant on a reality programme??

Harriet Tyce meets Agatha Christie! Hopefully it will take place on a secluded island in the middle of a huge storm which prevents access to or leaving the island!

Ellie might not take it that personally - after all, nobody knows Ross was her boyfriend, or she might just accept it's a game - or she might not blame anyone else for it, since he did play really badly, poor guy. I can totally understand why but it's an example of not trying to overcompensate!

I think Ross was stuffed from the moment he and Netty recognised each other. It was terrible luck.
It was a bad move to keep bringing it up and it probably did make him an even bigger target but I understand why he did feel the need to keep justifying himself.

I was thinking a bit like the Glass Onion. I've downloaded 'the Lies She Told' for my next read, thanks for the Kindle Umlimited heads up!

NameChangedForThis2025 · 15/01/2026 11:10

Harriet absolutely dropped the ball. There was plenty there for her to deliver a ruthlessly targeted take down exactly like she did Hugo, but I’m not sure I would have voted for Rachel based on that.

And scattering around wild accusations at lots of others has just significantly undermined anyone taking her parting words seriously now.

BareCarpet · 15/01/2026 11:15

When Fiona was interviewed, she said she hadn't even considered the Ben thing. So it was just a happy coincidence. She seems to be full of shit so it may be nonsense.

I sometimes wonder if the game was thrown when Fiona threw her grenade, and the series has been scripted thereafter. Perhaps not though. We've just watched celebrity Traitors it was a little more fun. The players were just as inept though. I have concluded it's just a shit game. At least the secret traitor thing had the audience guessing. Which gave us something to do. Players that drill/interview other players or throw grenades might get some insights. The Harriet thing was just a complete washout in the end. And the mini-games are about as much fun to watch as paint drying. Think about it, Celia's fart was the most entertaining thing about the last series.

Perhaps the way to fix it would be to have two traitors teams. One secret from the viewers.

It was very difficult to watch how emotional she was.
I think this game is particularly hard for people who are innocent, honest and have very good insights.

Easier if you’re a good liar and/or clueless, regardless of assigned role.

That’s already been (basically) done a few times - it’s more of a Big Brother setting, but can recommend Ben Elton’s Dead Famous if people haven’t read it.

ScaredOfFlying · 15/01/2026 11:20

What is interesting, when you think about it, is that we never hear them talk about anything other than the game and their various suspicions. In a group like that you'd naturally have people talking about their likes, interests, childhoods, travel etc. You can understand that they might steer clear of family and job information, politics and religion but you can easily imagine them having a good old chat about Line of Duty or Masterchef, movies or fashion or sport, or their favourite foods or holidays, or what it’s like to live in their part of the UK. Or no-names anecdotes about their partners or kids along the lines of “my son broke his leg when he was 12” or “my husband does all the ironing” or “I had to have a C-section with my youngest” Lots of things that would, in real life, give you a much more rounded sense of a person. Not to mention exposing class and educational differences.

So is that all just edited out, or do they just not go there? We know that off-camera Fiona shared info about her family having lots of police in it. On occasion someone will reveal a personal story in a way that you can tell the Producers have prompted, such as when Jaz told them all about how his father had a secret family, but I haven’t noticed much of that in this series.

LighthouseLED · 15/01/2026 11:21

I think it’s edited out. Can’t remember who said it, but after Harriet revealed her real job somebody said “she lied about her job”, so she must have said something.

Traitorsyay · 15/01/2026 11:22

I find the editing hard this year. I know it's a prize show, so there must be regulations to not allow interference. However the choice of who enters breakfast first-last is down to production, and I dare say Harriet may have presented differently had she been first in. Randomly a majority of the time I'm watching I feel constantly reminded of the trump editing fiasco. I will continue to watch, and overall I'm enjoying it, however something just feels off about this series. Maybe it's because I'm not rooting for anyone

BareCarpet · 15/01/2026 11:30

Yeah it's all edited out of most of the reality based shows. People are inherently interesting, and yet when you watch these shows they become vacuous dullards.

I think they said you aren't allowed to talk 'game' off camera.

PistachioTiramisu · 15/01/2026 11:31

Theory incoming - don't think I have seen this before - could Ellie be Harriet's daughter? Similar looks and hair.

Going against the grain, I like Rachel - she has played a very clever game and you have to admire her for that. Ideally I would like her and Stephen to share the prize money - it would make a very 'nice' ending for a change.

drivinmecrazy · 15/01/2026 11:33

I must admit, as a huge traitors fan, this series does seem far more contrived.
Especially compared to the first series when they seemed to almost ramdomly threw a load of stranger together.

wonder if it’s becoming a victim of its own success?
I’ve always thought that the biggest change they could make to throw the cat among the pigeons was to recruit more traitors at the outset.
Not sure these latest changes have been for the good.
It’s almost as if the production team are over thinking the game and trying to out smart themselves rather than the viewers

LighthouseLED · 15/01/2026 11:42

I’ve always thought that the biggest change they could make to throw the cat among the pigeons was to recruit more traitors at the outset.

I’d like to see them select 5 or 6 traitors at the outset but tell them they aren’t allowed to recruit, even if they’re the last traitor standing. Don’t tell the faithful this, and if all traitors are eliminated then the murder is decided by chance.

Isekaied · 15/01/2026 11:44

Rousillon849 · 15/01/2026 09:47

Yes, they certainly behave better, from my point of view, this year. Until someone goes a little bonkers, like Fiona and Harriet.

I totally agree about "pretty privilege" and Leanne. I wonder if we are seeing some of it this year with Roxy (who I currently don't particularly mind, although she seems to irritate a few people on here). The other young attractive women are all more on the quiet side, although Jessie has come out of her shell a lot more since being voted most likeable, or whatever it was, and I see glimpses of and potential for "irritatingness" in her, because she's so dramatic.

Edited

I thi k they need to get rid of Jessie ASAP.

No one will ever vote her off. And she doesn't seem to suspect Stephen anymore.
