Just saw a brief clip talking about how the target market for gay romance is straight women with some speculation on why that is - removal of gendered expectations etc.

I moved away from MF romances as I just couldn‘t identify with the female characters anymore. It got too much „too stupid to live“ in suspense and in contemporary they are so often portrayed as helpless.

Also, too much obsession with looks and the perfect s*x.

MM - I obviously can‘t identify with the characters but I find it refreshing reading without feeling down because I look different or annoyed because I hate the helplessness.
I observe the story, I don‘t feel the need to see myself in it.

I read male MM authors and female, I go to book cons and while there is a large female audience you also find plenty of male romance readers.

I think the equality in MM romance is one of the things that appeals to women in straight relationships.

With the disclaimer that I've been drinking and I don't consider myself and expert in gay porn. However, I am enjoying this.

I am LOVING this!! I’m watching further to Marina Hyde’s recommendation; it is budget and basic and has total Twilight vibes, but the tension building is brilliant and who knew gay sex could be so hot 🫣

I’m only on episode 3, and I’m feeling so sad for Shane at this point, but I fully expect he gets what he needs from Ilya in subsequent episodes. I am enjoying the Scott / Kip thing. It feels like a totally different show, but still enjoyable.

I’m surprised this show isn’t getting more chat on MN because it’s massive on other platforms like TikTok & Threads. It’s very addictive and very easy to rewatch. Connor Storrie may “hopefully” do some promo in Europe soon, Hudson Williams was in Milan last week.

I think it is because it's on Sky/Now which doesn't have the subscribers that something like Netflix has or if it was on BBC/ITV

I had a day off today and I never ever watch TV during the day, but for this, I made an exception. At the end of episode 4 now and still feeling sad for Shane. Even if Ilya’s acting this way out of shame, it’s still brutal for Shane (realise it’s fictitious and I’m far too invested!).

DH was supposed to be on a business trip when it started here in the UK but it was cancelled. He definitely spoilt my viewing pleasure being at home (but indulging me in subscribing to another channel).

I watched it twice, DH was away last week, he hates stuff like this, I then followed it up with a rewatch of Fellow Travelers which is also about gay love but is totally tragic probably more like It's a Sin.

Yes I would suggest getting a TikTok account to watch either obsessed mums unable to function in their daily lives or montages of Connor Storrie and reading the books. Only 1 year or so to go until tv version of Series 2!

Rewatching Fellow Travelers after Heated Rivalry seems like pure masochism to me! It took me weeks to recover from FT.
