i keep forgetting about industry, haven’t started this season yet.

i have just watched finding her edge, that was alright.

tennissquare · 16/02/2026 19:26

Season 4 of Industry is full on, it’s not a “re-heat” show.

Rousillon849 · 16/02/2026 21:23

Love it, @QueenMabby!

@tennissquare, my curiosity is piqued! "I'm coming to the cottage"?, "I might open. I might knock"? I am really struggling to find the will to fit Industry in these days. It's really good, it's not just HR.

@elvislives2012, thank you for the rec. I loved the Loon Call interview with Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady, so will listen to other episodes. I am loving A Story Worth Telling at the moment. They focus on queer representation in media and have really interesting, lived-experience takes on HR. Plus they are hilarious.

tennissquare · 16/02/2026 21:42

@Rousillon849, it’s a small line in both shows, in Industry it then cuts to a spoiler - gay club scene - The club scene in industry features the actor Kit Harington and there is already an edit on TikTok set to All the things you said - it’s really mash up of too many TV shows.

Rousillon849 · 16/02/2026 21:53

I love the speed of fandoms nowadays. Within literal seconds of Aperture coming out, there were HR club edits set to it.

And talking of Harry Styles, those of you who like the pebble reenactments, find the one set in the Tampa bar, and pay close attention to the posters on the wall behind it. Sometimes I feel like we're all in the freemasons!

elvislives2012 · 16/02/2026 22:19

I have just started on industry and I fucking love it! Though nowhere near as much as HR obvs

Fatrascal27 · 16/02/2026 22:39

I have watched last episode of industry. It was great though I have no idea what was going on really! It’s great TV though.

TheMateofOphelia · 20/02/2026 00:33

So I started reading the books. 👍😉

RedRiverShore6 · 20/02/2026 07:54

I just ordered the first three books together on Kindle, it was a bit cheaper to buy the three in one volume.

QueenMabby · 20/02/2026 12:07

I read all the books prior to even knowing there was a show. Loved them even more after the show! She also has two other unconnected to the Game Changers universe. All are good.
The boys are going to kill us in season 2.

Fatrascal27 · 21/02/2026 04:42

I agree S2 will ruin us. I read TLG and wept! Many times.

RedRiverShore6 · 21/02/2026 06:14

The Heated Rivalry paperback is £5 on Amazon now

likeafishneedsabike · 21/02/2026 15:47

Imagine the unprecedented interest I have taken in the Winter Olympics ice hockey. Searching desperately for Shane and Ilya (although Russia are not in it).

Heated Rivalry and The Long Game are both 99p on Kindle right now.

Oh no, Amazon must have known I paid £12.99 for the first 3 book compilation yesterday 😩

RedRiverShore6 · 21/02/2026 19:07

Just bought the Kindle books 5 and 6 for 99p each, hoping 4 will reduce sometime so saved some money there. I think they are all 99p apart from no, 4 (common goal), hopefully that will be cheaper by the time I get to it.

likeafishneedsabike · 21/02/2026 20:54

Bloody hell, I paid £5.99 for The Long Game on kindle. It was worth it though - a great read that develops the characters so meaningfully.

TheMateofOphelia · 21/02/2026 23:30

I bought heated rivalry for 5.99 as well - loved it. Will buy the rest now as they're on discount.

Fatrascal27 · 22/02/2026 13:33

Watching Olympics ice hockey final and my daughter asked me a question about it… ‘well hockey is a complicated and nuanced game….’

FurForksSake · 22/02/2026 21:20

I read both books this weekend. I’m not sure how I feel about them. I do feel Jacob did a very good job and i prefer the characters in the show. I do wonder what he’ll take from the books for the next series, I don’t want to speculate here as it would be spoils though!

The book gave context to scenes that would have benefited from a bit more of that. I do think the series played down the rivals element and that there was any period of time where their relationship was really casual.

When Shane leaves ilya’s house in Boston during the tuna meltdown it doesn’t quite make sense how Ilya has suddenly changed the narrative and then communicates so terribly. If I was Shane I’d have run a mile from someone that was encouraging me to act more relationship that situationship and then told me about the woman he really liked and about finding a new one. And the whole joke about liking him but just his mouth. And then pushing him about girls. In the book I think you see more of Shane and his internal homophobia or fear of admitting what he truly feels. I need another rewatch now.

SPOILERS FOR TLG BELOW

I did not read 'Heated Rivalry' but I read TLG, Tough Guy and Role Model and I agree. I know some people will say it's a romance book, so it should be judged against the canon, but I read a lot of genre books like crime novels, and I think you can tell when the writing is not good.

I think my main issue is that the books go so against 'show, don't tell' rule. I understand there should be a bit of internal dialogue, but it verges on hysterical.
The other problem I had was that character development seemed a bit contradictory to what we had learnt from HR (e.g. why the hell risk averse Shane actually comes out? wouldn't that attract more attention? and what is this wedding? Ilya is a party boy he wants a proper party and Shane and Yuna would plan the hell out of it) . So many of key developments are propelled by external factors (plane situation, FanMail, parents catching them in HR). The scenes that could show character journey were skipped, like the coming out to the Montreal team.

It is also funny how socially conservative all couples are if you disregard the fact they are men. They move together and get married at the pace that would put majority of straight couples to shame. :D Again I get they are characters from romance books, but you would think that making them gay would release them from some constraints straight couple experience.

FurForksSake · 22/02/2026 22:42

I agree, I think the show will have to have some fundamental changes as they’ve portrayed the characters quite differently. And the physicality is so different, the dynamics are very changed.

Fatrascal27 · 22/02/2026 23:49

SPOILERS

there is a disconnect between the HR book and the show. It’s a bit jarring. What carries it though is the performances.

Tuna melt is Ilya trying to progress the relationship but I didn’t really get that on first watch. His questions on girls etc are his clumsy way of sounding Shane out. They then both freak out a bit after the sofa sex. This is a bit clearer in the book.

I like the book but the show did something great with the source material. Though there are still plot holes. Be interesting to see what TLG uses.

I suspect, Ilya’s depression, the plane, the coming out and showdown with Metros boss and the wedding? Lots of sex in between. The trophy room scene will be included probably.

At this point Jacob Tierny could just produce a weekly scene of Ilya and Shane knocking about the cottage and we’d all tune in!

Interesting! I understood he wanted more from the Tuna Melt scene without reading the book.

Am I the only one who though the Trophy Room scene was super cringe?

Fatrascal27 · 23/02/2026 12:25

There are a few cringe moments I think. Not sure how JT will write them to screen to avoid this. I think Ilya saying ‘you are Shane Fucking Hollander!!!’ etc might be a vibe though.
