Did anybody see it tonight? (Neil Jones and his partner)
I feel really sad for him actually, he comes across as lovely.
I am however picking up bad vibes from the relationship and hope I'm completely wrong tbh.

I've never asen anyone actually end up buying anything, either celeb or the non celeb version, it's a publicity stunt.

I thought it would be quite strange for a celebrity to buy one of the featured houses from a privacy point of view. You wouldn’t want a large proportion of the country knowing where you lived.

I agree.

I much prefer location location as they actually buy!

I didn't see this ep but it was obvious the Gareth Malone one was fake and pointless BC he was hunting with his mum rather than his partner. Suspect all the celeb ones are.

Years ago a friend of DB was on the normal version and did buy the mystery house.

Dr Ranj bought the “house” (it’s a tower) Denise Nurse showed him and you can follow the renovation in “I escaped to the country “series 10 episode 1 on iPlayer. To be honest it looked like an expensive mistake but is lovely now.

I agree Neil came over well in his episode but I think he is a dreamer who likes strong assertive women, he was previously married to Katya in Strictly who has his surname.

tennissquare that popped up on my tv yesterday and I watched it expecting to see another celeb going through the motions. I was so surprised when he made an offer and bought the tower. Sadly for him the day he got the keys it was raining heavily and the rain was pouring down the inside walls of all 5 floors of the tower.

The cosmetic makeover he had expected turned into a major renovation project having to replace walls and floors, electrics etc. He didn’t divulge how much he’d spent but it must have been a lot on top of his £550k purchase.

I’ve always thought by the few celeb versions of this programme I’ve seen that it’s not for real. I think they’re just going through the motions acting it out as a paid assignment and aren’t actually house hunting. I wouldn’t expect any celebs would be publicising where they might be seriously house hunting.

100%. On one of them they almost actually said exactly that

I’ve been prove wrong on that one after watching an episode with tv celeb Dr Ranj yesterday. He was house hunting in the countryside within easy commute of Manchester. He bought the 5 storey tower he viewed.

It looked to me like he was swept up in the excitement of it all and made an offer on impulse. I was expecting them to say at the end he’d changed his mind. I suspect he wished he had. It flooded with rainwater on day 1 and turned into a major renovation.

It’s a very unusual 5 storey tower and could easily be identified as his home. I found it strange that he went with his private life and home being on show. It involved 3 separate visits by a tv crew months apart.
