Eurovision build up 2026

Yes it is early this year but here we are, back for 2026.

Two songs are out already. I think I prefer Montenegro over Albania on first listen but obviously very early days.

The Scoreboard app has updated for this year. The Aussievision podcast is two episodes in. A new season is beginning.

Ready sad about the controversies and boycotts but hoping for a positive thread discussing the songs as they are released.

I think I need to give Poland some time too. She has a good voice. Yes to the German singers in pitch perfect 2 😂.

I’m pleased she’s getting her chance - she was due to represent Poland at Eurovision in 2020.

That was a bit mean compared to most other 2020 artists.

Azerbaijan is out now. Jiva and Just Go. A ballad.

Three others due out on Wednesday and Armenia is still a mystery.

All 35 songs are now out. Georgia, Armenia, Czechia and Switzerland all released today. I have them all between 20 and 26 on my ranking. I expect they will move as I get to know them and they grow on me or not. Generally I have good first impressions but beginning to get confused with so many songs. Armenia has a similar theme to the UK but hopefully different enough.

I think it’s a really strong year - there are only really 3 songs that I am not so keen on and maybe 11 that I really like. I will post my rankings in a few days when I am more certain of the new ones.

I am going to the London Eurovision Party - excited to see some of them live this year.

I'm enjoying Armenia - interesting that there are two songs about being sick of office life (I can certainly relate) and Switzerland. I feel that the semi finals are going to be tough watching - particularly semi final 2 - so many good songs!!

Here is my ranking from the Eurovision scoreboard app. It’s a lot of songs to put on order especially with the middle ones and the top 5 keep changing - really like them all. I am sure it will change plenty by May but I am happy with it for now.

Sounds like there will be some BBC sounds Eurovision content again this year. All good fun.

So a bit of a lull at the moment but a few bits of news.

Scott Mills won’t be involved this year after leaving the BBC under a cloud.

Aidan has been to Australia to promote Malta - first time a Eurovision artist has done that in the lead up.

Delta Goodram has been around singing her song at the pre parties (with rave reviews) and was one the One Show but didn’t do a live performance unfortunately.

The UK is doing ok ish in various rankings but no live performances yet.

There has been a bit of pushback about the Romanian lyrics - ‘choke me’ but that seems to have all gone quiet again.

Finland is still top of the odds to win and top of the ratings in the scoreboard app. Linda is trying to get permission to play her violin live which would be amazing but is unlikely to happen.

The SF running orders are out. Surprised to see Sweden in the #2 slot for SF1.

No one has mentioned it yet.....but Sara Cox is taking over the Eurovision commentary .

Not sure if that is Tv or just the radio .

Scott Mills used to do the tv for the semis and the radio for the final so maybe it’s the same. Will she be doing it with Rylan?

I guess someone has to be second - interesting that it’s a very popular song for SF1 and an unpopular one for SF2. I am sure they will qualify.

I seem to recall that as far as the semis are concerned, that in recent years the #3 slot is actually tougher to qualify from than the #2 slot. But I’d have to go and look at the stats to be sure. I’m so pleased that Albania drew the second half of their semi so they dodge the #2 slot this year!

Look Mum No Computer has had his baby - little boy called Max - yesterday and is now announced for The London Eurovision Party.

Had a fab night at The London Eurovision Party. All the live performances seemed to be good vocally to me and it was so fun to be there with a load of fans. My friends who are Eurovision fans but haven’t listened to anything yet liked Moldova, Norway and Greece best on first listen. Look Mum No Computer did his first live performance and it was similar to the video - no issues vocally although I think the sound mix wasn’t quite right unfortunately. Linda played her violin live and is still hoping she will be able to in Vienna. Boy George was there for his cameo and then did Karma Chameleon. Lots of covers and chat and then a DJ afterwards with Eurovision music. I do recommend it for a good night out.

It’s getting close now - less than 3 weeks to go until semi final 1.

Do you have a favourite? What do you think of Einz Zwei Drei?

I don’t like to be negative and actually have the Romanian song in my top ten - it’s a great tune. But can’t imagine sitting down with my parents for example and sitting through it whilst telling them how much I love Eurovision. (Not that they will watch it anyway so that’s just hypothetical).

Everyone I know is boycotting this year for obvious reasons.

Rehersals start next week. It’s all getting close. Apparently there is some great staging for Greece, Australia and the UK.
